This time, the unit coordinated the distribution of 350 free bowls of porridge to patients. Major Nguyen Dinh Quyen, Deputy Political Officer of the Binh Hiep International Border Gate Border Guard Station, said: The "Porridge of Compassion" model has been implemented by the unit since July 2022. Each month, the unit organizes this program twice, each time distributing 300-350 bowls of porridge to patients in difficult circumstances. The funding comes from voluntary contributions from the unit's officers and soldiers.
As usual, on the day of the charitable porridge distribution, from early morning, the officers and soldiers of the unit, along with the Red Cross and the Youth Union of Binh Hiep commune, are busy preparing. Ingredients are carefully selected and processed with the hope of providing warm, nutritious bowls of porridge to the patients. Each portion of porridge not only ensures hygiene and quality but also embodies the sincere feelings, sharing, and sense of responsibility towards the community of the border guards and the cooperating units.
Le Thi Mai, Chairwoman of the Red Cross Society of Binh Hiep commune, shared: "Every time it's time to implement the model, without being told, everyone does their part, participating with a high sense of responsibility and wholeheartedly, with the desire to bring delicious porridge to poor patients, encouraging them to overcome difficulties and recover quickly."
Present at the hospital – where officers and soldiers from various units were distributing bowls of porridge as a gesture of kindness to patients – we felt the genuine affection from the border guards here. Each bowl of porridge handed out represented a thoughtful gesture, a warm welcome, and wishes for good health and encouragement for the patients.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ut, currently receiving treatment at Kien Tuong Regional General Hospital, expressed: “The porridge is delicious and nutritious. Thanks to the 'Porridge of Compassion' model, we have reduced some of our food expenses, allowing us to focus on our treatment.”
For patients in difficult circumstances, this is not only a heartwarming meal reflecting the solidarity between the military and civilians, but also a source of moral support, helping them gain more faith and strength to overcome illness, recover their health, and return to their families and daily lives.
These warm bowls of porridge, filled with the affection of the border guards, also contribute to enhancing the beautiful image of the "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the people and further strengthen the solidarity between the military and the people in the border region.
Through practical actions stemming from a sense of responsibility, officers and soldiers have built a solid "milestone of people's hearts" on the border./.
