| Electricity sector employees are promoting electricity conservation at manufacturing enterprises. |
Entering the peak of the hot season, Thai Nguyen Power Company recorded a significant increase in electricity consumption. Notably, at 10:30 PM on May 23, 2026, the highest power consumption reached 1,238 MW, a 10.3% increase compared to the same period last year.
These figures reflect the sharp increase in electricity demand in the province. Under extreme weather conditions, the risk of equipment overload and grid failures is always present. Without timely regulatory measures and coordination from electricity consumers, localized overloads could occur.
Some residential areas, especially in the central administrative district, have experienced power outages due to high operational pressure. Therefore, saving electricity is no longer just a recommendation, but has become a requirement that needs to be implemented regularly in every household.
In Tich Luong ward, the family of Ms. Duong Thi Thu Yen has maintained a habit of saving electricity for many years. Due to the characteristics of their narrow house, with significant temperature differences between floors, the family prioritizes living on the lower floors and concentrates the use of electrical appliances in common areas.
The electricity needs on the upper floors are carefully considered to minimize waste. Referring to the electricity sector's guidelines on safe and economical electricity use also helps families improve energy efficiency.
For businesses, saving electricity is seen as a dual solution, both reducing production costs and contributing to the safety of the power system.
Mai Anh Ngoc Co., Ltd., a company operating in the mechanical processing sector, has average electricity costs of 40-50 million VND per month. From mid-2025, the company invested in a 100kW solar power system. After nearly a year of operation, electricity costs have decreased by approximately 40%, while also stabilizing the power supply for production and minimizing disruptions to machinery operation.
In addition, many businesses in the province have proactively adjusted their production plans, shifting some working hours out of peak hours. Energy-saving solutions have been implemented synchronously, such as optimizing equipment operation and reducing the use of lighting when unnecessary.

| Increased electricity demand during hot weather puts significant pressure on the power grid system in Thai Nguyen province. |
Reducing the load helps to limit the risk of incidents such as line overload and equipment fires, while ensuring a stable power supply for production, business activities, and people's daily lives.
In 2026, Thai Nguyen Power Company will invest over 505 billion VND in 21 projects to combat overload and 16 projects to improve the operational capacity of the power grid.
According to forecasts, the prolonged heatwave will keep electricity demand in the northern region at a high level. This requires close coordination between the power sector and electricity consumers.
The power sector advises people and businesses to limit the simultaneous use of high-power devices during peak hours, prioritize energy-saving devices, and proactively switch off devices when not in use, thereby contributing to the safe, stable, and efficient operation of the power system.
