Keeping the Youth Union movement alive in the new context

After the operation of the two-level local government, the Youth Union organizations had many changes in personnel and areas of operation. However, with the spirit of shock, initiative and flexibility, Da Nang youth quickly adapted and continued to promote their pioneering role in activities.

On the evening of Sunday, July 20, at the Pho Nam Village Cultural House (Hai Van Ward), dozens of children were filled with laughter and excitement as they participated in a summer activity with many interesting activities such as small games, group dancing, quizzes with prizes... under the enthusiastic guidance of union members and youth.

Hai Van Ward has many rivers, streams, and lakes. In the summer, children often go to these areas to play, which poses a risk of drowning. Therefore, in the activities, the Youth Union integrates propaganda about drowning prevention knowledge in visual and vivid forms, helping children to easily understand, remember, and know how to handle dangerous situations.

Ms. Ong Thi Thanh Tam (Secretary of the Pho Nam Village Youth Union) said that the Youth Union maintains regular activities on Wednesday and Sunday evenings every week, announcing them via Facebook and Zalo groups for parents and children to follow. The content of the activities is regularly updated to suit each age group, creating attraction for the children and teenagers in the village.

For Youth Union organizations, maintaining volunteer activities is a continuous task, demonstrating the pioneering spirit of youth. Right from the first days of implementing the two-level local government model, the City Youth Union organized youth volunteer teams to support administrative units at ward and commune levels.

Youth union members not only support grassroots officials but also directly guide people in carrying out administrative procedures in the electronic environment.

At the Public Administration Service Center, the image of "volunteer green shirts" enthusiastically guides each type of file and document; supports the flow, guides the process of receiving and handling procedures, thereby contributing to reducing the workload for professional staff, improving service efficiency and people's satisfaction.

In Ngu Hanh Son ward, there are currently 159 grassroots youth union branches. In order to ensure an effective and suitable living environment for young people, the ward Youth Union regularly sends cadres to the activity locations to monitor and support. The majority of the youth union branch cadres in residential areas are still stable, and the activities are maintained in a cluster model, creating favorable conditions for organizing activities.

Mr. Le Xuan Thanh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Ngu Hanh Son Ward, said that recently, many meaningful models such as: "We are always with you, Mom", "Family Meal", "Volunteer Saturday", "Green Sunday"... have been maintained and organized regularly, contributing to spreading the spirit of sharing, responsibility and community awareness among union members and young people...

Despite many difficulties due to the expansion of the management area and the reduction of the number of full-time Youth Union cadres, with flexibility and a sense of responsibility, the Youth Union at the grassroots level in the city has gradually adapted to meet the needs of living, playing and developing children in residential areas.

Secretary of the City Youth Union Le Cong Hung assessed that the Youth Union has made efforts to maintain stability in its activities, ensuring continuity and no interruptions, especially in summer activities and youth volunteer movements.

In the coming time, the City Youth Union will strengthen its direction and closely monitor to promptly support the grassroots in the process of implementing tasks. Along with that, it will focus on training and fostering skills for Youth Union officials at all levels to improve the quality of activities.
