Keeping the Youth Union movement alive in the new context.

Following the establishment of a two-tiered local government system, the Youth Union branches have undergone many changes in personnel and operational areas. However, with their pioneering, proactive, and flexible spirit, the youth of Da Nang quickly adapted and continued to play a leading role in various activities.

On Sunday evening, July 20th, at the Pho Nam village cultural center (Hai Van ward), dozens of children excitedly participated in a summer activity session filled with laughter and enthusiasm, featuring engaging games, group singing and dancing, and quizzes with prizes, all under the enthusiastic guidance of youth union members.

Hai Van Ward has many rivers, streams, and lakes. In the summer, children often go to these areas to play, posing a risk of drowning. Therefore, during activities, the youth union incorporates the dissemination of knowledge on drowning prevention through visual and lively methods, helping children easily understand, remember, and know how to handle dangerous situations.

According to Ms. Ong Thi Thanh Tam (Secretary of the Youth Union branch in Pho Nam village), the branch maintains regular activities on Wednesday and Sunday evenings every week, announcing them through Facebook and Zalo groups so that parents and children can follow along. The content of the activities is regularly updated to suit each age group, creating appeal for young people in the village.

For Youth Union branches, maintaining volunteer activities is a continuous task, demonstrating the pioneering spirit of young people. Right from the early days of implementing the two-tiered local government model, the City Youth Union organized youth volunteer teams to provide support at the ward and commune administrative levels.

Youth union members and young people not only support local officials but also directly guide citizens in carrying out administrative procedures electronically.

At the Public Administrative Service Center, the image of dedicated "volunteer green-shirted" staff guiding people through each type of document and paperwork; assisting with traffic flow, and instructing on the procedures for receiving and processing applications, thereby contributing to reducing the workload for professional staff, improving service efficiency, and increasing citizen satisfaction.

In Ngu Hanh Son ward, there are currently 159 grassroots youth union branches. To ensure an effective and suitable environment for young people, the ward's Youth Union regularly sends officials to these locations to monitor and support activities. The majority of youth union branch officials in residential areas remain stable, and activities are maintained in clusters, facilitating organization.

According to Mr. Le Xuan Thanh, Secretary of the Youth Union of Ngu Hanh Son Ward, in recent times, many meaningful models such as "We are always by Mom's side," "Family meals," "Volunteer Saturday," "Green Sunday," etc., have been regularly organized, contributing to spreading the spirit of sharing, responsibility, and community awareness among Youth Union members and young people.

Despite facing numerous challenges due to the expanding administrative area and the reduction in the number of full-time Youth Union officials, the grassroots Youth Union organizations in the city, through their flexibility and sense of responsibility, have gradually adapted to meet the needs for activities, recreation, and development of young people in residential areas.

Secretary of the City Youth Union, Le Cong Hung, assessed that the Youth Union organization has made efforts to maintain stability in its activities, ensuring continuity and uninterrupted operation, especially in summer activities and youth volunteer movements.

In the coming period, the City Youth Union will strengthen its guidance and closely monitor the implementation of tasks to provide timely support to grassroots units. Along with that, it will focus on training and developing skills for Youth Union officials at all levels to improve the quality of their activities.
