A public cultural and artistic program at the National Unity Day celebration in Dien Hoa village, Hop Tien commune.
Following the merger, along with focusing on socio -economic development, Hoa Quy commune has paid special attention to building cultural life in residential areas. One of the highlights is the maintenance and effective promotion of activities of cultural and artistic clubs and mass sports teams. Currently, all 20/20 villages in the commune have regular volleyball teams and performing arts groups. Many models maintain a structured system and attract a large number of people to participate, such as Dong Tam, Thinh Lac, Lien Hiep, and Lang Gio. Through regular activities, these performing arts groups not only meet the cultural needs of the people but also become places for preserving and transmitting traditional cultural values.
Late in the afternoon, the Dong Tam village cultural center bustled with music. Members of the arts club, dressed in traditional ethnic costumes, gathered to practice the traditional dances of the Thai people. The club was established in 2025 based on the core members of the village's amateur arts team. The club maintains regular activities, participates in local festivals and cultural events, and supports tourism activities at Dong Quan Waterfall.
Ms. Truong Thi Nguyet, the club's chairperson, said: "The club currently has 12 members. The most gratifying thing is that more and more young people are joining. Each training session has become an opportunity for everyone to meet, share, and together preserve, continue, and spread the cultural values of our nation."
Meanwhile, Mr. Ha Thanh Xuyen, Secretary of the Dong Tam Party Branch, said: "Through these meetings, the people have more opportunities to interact, strengthen bonds, and maintain good neighborly relations, while also contributing to preserving and showcasing the national cultural identity."
Not only in mountainous communes, where cultural and artistic clubs and sports teams contribute to preserving ethnic identity, but also in many localities in the plains and coastal areas, these models are proving effective. From folk dance clubs/teams and mass art groups to sports clubs/teams and intergenerational self-help groups, each model has become a familiar meeting place, contributing to improving spiritual life and strengthening cohesion within the community.
Hop Tien commune is one such locality. With 35 villages in the area, many types of clubs are effectively maintained, attracting a large number of people to participate. For example, in Dien Hoa village, the cultural center's courtyard is always bustling with people practicing sports and folk dances in the early morning and late afternoon. It is noteworthy that most of the cultural, artistic, and sports clubs and teams here operate on a voluntary basis and are maintained through social mobilization.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phan, Party branch secretary and village head, said: “The clubs have created positive changes in community life. Not only do they attract enthusiastic participation from the people, but they also contribute to strengthening solidarity and building a civilized lifestyle in the residential area. Through their activities, many Party guidelines and State policies and laws are disseminated to the people in a way that is accessible and easy to understand. Club members also actively participate in environmental protection activities, rural development, and helping those in difficult circumstances in the area.”
From reality, it can be seen that grassroots clubs are proving to be highly effective. Currently, the province has approximately 3,500 sports and physical education teams and more than 4,600 cultural and artistic clubs and teams. These are not only playgrounds that meet the needs of people for interaction and training, but also a core force in organizing community activities, contributing to building a healthy cultural environment in residential areas.
Ms. Trinh Thi Minh, Head of the Culture and Family Management Department of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: “Cultural, artistic, and sports clubs at the grassroots level are playing an important role in building cultural life. Not only do they create healthy playgrounds and meet the people's cultural needs, but many clubs also contribute to preserving traditional cultural forms, strengthening community cohesion, and safeguarding local cultural values. Through the activities of these clubs, many cultural values are passed down between generations, creating sustainable vitality for the cultural movement at the grassroots level.”
Although village cultural, artistic, and sports clubs and teams still face difficulties in terms of operating funds and facilities, thanks to the dedication of the people and the attention of relevant departments and localities, these clubs and teams are still contributing to preserving local cultural values and strengthening community bonds.
