The internet is increasingly asserting its essential role, closely linked to the leadership and management activities of all levels of government, e-commerce, cashless payments, communication, and media. During Tet (Lunar New Year) and spring festivals, the demand for travel, trade, and information sharing increases, causing a surge in internet and communication traffic. This puts significant pressure on telecommunications infrastructure, posing a risk of network congestion, information disruption, and impacting cybersecurity.
Mr. Bui Duc Trung, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology, stated: Ensuring safe and uninterrupted communication during the Tet holiday and spring festivals of 2026 is one of the key tasks of the sector. Accordingly, the department has proactively advised, coordinated, and promptly issued documents requiring postal and telecommunications enterprises in the area to develop and implement plans to ensure communication. The focus is on strengthening network infrastructure capacity, expanding transmission capacity and bandwidth, especially in areas where festivals are held and areas with large crowds; and preparing comprehensive contingency plans regarding equipment, transmission, and technical resources to promptly respond to and handle any incidents that may occur.
Accordingly, telecommunications businesses in the province are focusing on reviewing and upgrading network infrastructure, expanding transmission capacity, and increasing connection bandwidth; deploying mobile broadcasting vehicles in areas where festivals are taking place, areas with large crowds, and areas where high traffic is predicted. At the same time, telecommunications businesses have proactively developed coordination plans and are ready to share network infrastructure when necessary, ensuring smooth and continuous communication in all situations.
Mr. Do Thanh Trung, Head of Infrastructure Engineering Department, Viettel Lang Son, said: Viettel Lang Son is implementing more than 100 technical solutions, building 17 new fixed base stations and 5 mobile base stations in densely populated areas. In particular, this year, Viettel is deploying 5G base stations to enhance network capacity and meet the demand for services during Tet and the festive season.
Besides ensuring smooth information flow, telecommunications businesses also prioritize safety and security, especially for transmission lines serving the leadership and management of all levels. Strengthening monitoring and improving the system's defense capabilities are implemented synchronously, thereby proactively detecting and promptly preventing acts of exploiting telecommunications networks and the internet to launch cyberattacks, spread malicious information, and commit online fraud, contributing to ensuring information safety and security in the area.
The postal network also received attention. The Provincial Post Office strengthened its personnel, vehicles, supplies, and equipment, ensuring absolute safety in receiving and delivering postal items, publications, and telegrams serving Party and State agencies and the armed forces. Simultaneously, it intensified inspections of compliance with operational procedures, proactively detecting and preventing acts of exploiting the postal network to transport prohibited goods or distribute illegal publications. On-call and operational duties were strictly implemented, ensuring timely delivery of mail and preventing congestion or loss during peak periods.
Mr. Pham Duc Vinh, Director of Lang Son Telecommunications, said: "We have proactively upgraded the VinaPhone mobile network, strengthened base stations, and deployed mobile stations in densely populated areas. At the same time, we have improved the quality of broadband internet and television services, expanded equipment capacity, and ensured stable and uninterrupted service, especially in remote areas."
In the context of rapid digital transformation, ensuring safe and uninterrupted communication, internet, and postal services during the Lunar New Year and spring festivals is a crucial political task. The proactive approach of state management agencies, along with the responsible spirit of telecommunications and postal enterprises, creates a stable information infrastructure, contributing to a joyful and convenient Lunar New Year celebration and ensuring safe and orderly spring festival activities.
