Ecotourism has become a strength of Nho Quan district in recent years.

In its journey to build a new rural district, Nho Quan has effectively leveraged the strengths of a land rich in culture and history. These steady steps have made Nho Quan a shining example of socio-economic development, transforming the face of this ancient land in the heart of Ninh Binh , and affirming its well-deserved position in the process of integration and development.

Sharing the district's development orientation, Comrade Dang Xuan Nguyen, Secretary of the Nho Quan District Party Committee, emphasized that we have identified building new rural areas as a key task. The district has focused on decisive leadership from the District Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee, down to the communes and towns. Simultaneously, we are developing effective economic models and transforming the structure of crops and livestock to suit the potential and advantages of each region and locality.

In reality, Nho Quan has been undergoing a strong transformation. With a natural area of over 45,083 hectares, the district is blessed with many scenic spots such as Cuc Phuong National Park, Van Trinh Cave, Cuc Phuong hot springs, and a system of picturesque rivers, lakes, and mountains. These advantages have become the foundation for developing high-end eco-tourism and resort areas such as Vedana Tourist Area, Trang An Golf Course, and Phu Doi Ngang Spiritual Tourism Area.

According to Chairman of the People's Committee of Nho Quan District, Hoang Khac Tiep, Nho Quan District has focused on developing its existing strengths to produce key products such as high-quality rice, fruit trees, and goat meat. "We have established concentrated fruit-growing areas, applying high technology and production processes according to VietGAP standards. For example, Phu Long custard apples and Dong Phong guavas have achieved OCOP certification, are labeled with traceability tags, helping to increase product value and build consumer trust."

In addition, the model of raising giant freshwater prawns on low-lying rice paddies in communes such as Van Phu, Son Thanh, and Thanh Lac is generating high incomes, averaging 400-500 million VND/ha. This is a new direction, suitable for the current climate change conditions.

Thach Binh, the largest commune in the district with 800 hectares of hilly forest land and 600 hectares of rice paddies (one rice crop per year), has maximized its potential for agricultural economic development. According to Mr. Bui Van The, Head of the District's Agriculture and Rural Development Department, people have introduced crops such as chrysanthemums, medicinal plants, and herbs into cultivation. In particular, the combination of forest planting and beekeeping for honey production has brought stable income to the local people.

The flower cultivation model implemented by the people of Thach Binh commune to serve the Lunar New Year brings high income to the residents every year-end.

Ms. Quách Thị Phương, a local resident, shared that thanks to support from the government and agricultural extension programs, her family boldly converted a portion of their rice-growing land to medicinal plant cultivation. The economic efficiency has doubled compared to before.

In Quynh Luu commune, taking advantage of low-lying, uncultivable land, Mr. Nguyen The Anh pioneered the cultivation of Japanese lotus for its tubers combined with fish farming on 15 acres of rice fields. Mr. The Anh stated that lotus cultivation techniques are not difficult; it only requires attention to the variety and proper care. With an average yield of 10 tons of tubers per hectare, income can reach 250 million VND per hectare, 5-6 times higher than rice cultivation.

His lotus roots are of high quality and are bought directly from the field by traders at a price of 25,000 VND/kg. In addition, he also raises carp and snakehead fish, promising a significant supplementary income.

Comrade Hoang Khac Tiep affirmed: We will continue to strengthen support for farmers in applying high technology, linking production and product consumption. At the same time, we will replicate effective economic models to create sustainable livelihoods for people and promote comprehensive development of the agricultural economy.

The journey towards sustainable agricultural development in Nho Quan continues, painting a picture of hope on this land rich in potential.
