Google officially releases Android 17 Beta 1 for Pixel devices.

After a few days of delay, Google has officially rolled out the Android 17 Beta 1 update for Pixel devices with build number CP21.260116.011.

Instead of starting with Developer Previews like every year, Google used the Android Canary channel to launch Beta 1. This method offers three core benefits:

Speed: New features and APIs are updated as soon as they pass internal testing.
Stability: Early testing helps to refine the Beta version, and changes to system behavior are almost identical to the final version.
Convenience: Users can update directly via OTA instead of having to manually install the software.

Key improvements to user experience and performance in Android 17.

Android 17 places a strong emphasis on responsive apps for large-screen devices. Google removed the developer opt-out option for apps targeting API level 37, forcing the interface to display full screen width and eliminating the black bar.

In terms of performance, the new operating system is optimized to reduce frame drops, lessen the CPU load on memory processing, and optimize RAM usage for notifications. For the camera, Android 17 provides professional tools for smooth switching between shooting modes, avoiding lag or freezing. Additionally, a new audio management API has been introduced to ensure a consistent listening experience across all applications.

According to the plan, the Platform Stabilization phase will take place in March with the final APIs. The official release is expected to launch in June of this year.
