Google releases Pixel 7 ad to 'comfort' iPhone 14

According to AppleInsider , the Best Phones Forever series consists of five promotional videos featuring the iPhone 14 Pro and the Pixel 7 Pro or Pixel Fold talking, where they comment on ongoing debates about becoming friends. The series of ads was created to give the phones a space to talk to eliminate their differences, where Google continues to innovate with the Pixel, while Apple does not.

iPhone 14 Pro is "jealous" of the features on the Pixel 7 Pro

The "Plateau" ad introducing the iPhone 14 Pro goes into great detail about how the Pixel has a number of features the iPhone doesn't, including astrophotography mode, call support, and 30x zoom. The iPhone even remarks that it's jealous of the Pixel's AI.

Meanwhile, in the “Opening Up” ad, the Pixel Fold asks the iPhone if it has noticed anything new about itself. The iPhone mentions the Pixel’s Magic Eraser features that it has seen. The Pixel Fold reveals that it can unfold and surprise the iPhone. The ad ends with the two playing a game.

The pair take a trip to the beach in "Lifesaver," where the Pixel 7 notices that the iPhone 14 Pro needs a recharge. In an attempt to "save" it, the Pixel uses its battery-sharing feature to charge the iPhone. Once it's back up and running, the iPhone notes that it drained its own battery by "watching a show about a friendly soccer coach," a reference to the Apple TV+ hit Ted Lasso .

Google regularly challenges Apple on design choices, though sometimes with mixed results. For example, in October 2022, the Google Pixel team took a dig at Apple on Twitter, but the team used an iPhone to post the information.
