According to AppleInsider , the Best Phones Forever series includes five video ads showcasing the iPhone 14 Pro and the talking Pixel 7 Pro or Pixel Fold, where they comment on ongoing debates about becoming friends. The series was created to give the phones conversational space to bridge their differences, with Google continuing to innovate with the Pixel, while Apple does not.
The iPhone 14 Pro is "envious" of the features on the Pixel 7 Pro.
The "Plateau" commercial for the iPhone 14 Pro goes on at length about how the Pixel has several features that the iPhone lacks, including an astrophotography mode, call support, and 30x zoom. The iPhone even comments that it's envious of the Pixel's AI.
In the "Opening Up" segment of the advertisement, the Pixel Fold asks the iPhone if it has noticed anything new about itself. The iPhone mentions the Pixel's Magic Eraser features that it has seen. The Pixel Fold reveals that it can open up and surprise the iPhone. The advertisement ends with a scene of the two playing a game together.
The "pair" take a trip to the beach in "Lifesaver," where the Pixel 7 announces that the iPhone 14 Pro needs recharging. In an attempt to "save" it, the Pixel uses its battery sharing feature to charge the iPhone. After it's back online, the iPhone comments that it drained its own battery due to "watching a show about a friendly soccer coach," referring to Apple TV+'s hit Ted Lasso .
Google frequently challenges Apple on design choices, although sometimes this leads to different outcomes. For example, in October 2022, the Google Pixel team took a jab at Apple on Twitter, but they used an iPhone to post the message.
