Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan from Manchester United last summer, with an option to buy for around £26 million.
Initially, this was seen as a stopgap solution when the Catalan team missed out on Luis Diaz and Nico Williams.
However, Rashford quickly overcame the doubts. He scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists in 34 matches across all competitions. The 27-year-old forward is versatile, playing both as a central striker and a winger. He contributed to Barca's lead in La Liga, their deep run in the Champions League, their Super Cup win, and their run to the Copa del Rey semi-finals.
According to Football Insider journalist Pete O'Rourke, both Rashford and Barcelona want to continue their long-term commitment.
Chairman Joan Laporta is reportedly a big admirer of the English player. However, the future of the deal may depend on the financial situation and the internal dynamics of the club's leadership.
Some sources in Spain suggest that Barca risk not having enough budget to activate the buy-out clause, as they prioritize adding a top-class central defender and striker. In the worst-case scenario, Rashford could have to return to Manchester United after his loan spell ends.
Many sources suggest that Barca will do everything possible to secure Rashford's long-term services. However, if Manchester United are firm and Rashford must return to Old Trafford, Barca also doesn't want to be in a passive position.

Accordingly, Barcelona has compiled a list of four alternative options, tentatively called "Plan B". Jack Grealish, Nicolo Zaniolo, Said El Mala, and Malick Fofana are among the names mentioned.
In Grealish's case, the English press suggests that Pep Guardiola is willing to facilitate a loan deal for Barca with an option to buy.
The Rashford deal therefore cannot be considered complete yet. Everything depends on Barca's financial capabilities and the decision at the top during the period when the club is holding elections for a new president.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are still waiting, as the possibility of bringing back their academy-trained striker remains open.
