According to TechRadar , the highly anticipated blockbuster game Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has once again disappointed the gaming community by being officially delayed, pushing back its release date from May 2026 to November 19, 2026. Notably, this is the second delay, despite previous promises from the CEO of Take-Two.

In an interview with IGN ahead of the company's earnings report, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick (Rockstar's parent company) explained the reason for the latest delay.
When asked about his confidence in the November 19, 2026 release date, Zelnick affirmed that he was "very confident." He further explained: "There have been rare instances where we needed more time to refine a game and ensure it was spectacular... When competitors release something that isn't ready, bad things can happen."

However, this is not the first time Mr. Zelnick has offered similar reassurances.
As IGN points out, the Take-Two CEO expressed the exact same sentiment before the first delay (when the game was moved from Fall 2025 to May 2026). At that time, he also said he "felt very good" about the timeline, although he acknowledged "there's always a risk of being late."
On social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Rockstar Games also released an official announcement, reiterating the familiar reason: "These additional months will allow us to refine the game to the level of polish you expect and deserve."
This delay announcement comes amid significant internal turmoil at Rockstar. Recently, the studio laid off over 30 employees at its UK and Canadian offices. According to Bloomberg, Take-Two accused these former employees of "serious misconduct," specifically "distributing and discussing confidential information on a public forum."
Therefore, gamers will have to wait longer than expected. GTA 6 is currently scheduled for release on November 19th next year on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Meanwhile, the PC version has not yet been announced.
