GTA 6 release date continues to be postponed

The gaming community has just received sad news about the second delay in the release of GTA 6.

According to TechRadar , the highly anticipated blockbuster game Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has once again disappointed the gaming community when it was officially delayed, pushing back its release date from May 2026 to November 19, 2026. Notably, this is the second delay, despite the previous promise from Take-Two CEO.

In a conversation with IGN ahead of the company's earnings report, Take-Two (Rockstar's parent company) CEO Strauss Zelnick gave a reason for the latest delay.

When asked about his confidence level on November 19, 2026, Zelnick said he was "very confident." He explained: "There have been rare instances where we've needed more time to polish a game and make sure it's spectacular... When competitors release something that's not ready, bad things happen."

However, this is not the first time Mr. Zelnick has offered similar reassurances.

As IGN points out, Take-Two's CEO expressed similar sentiments before the first delay (when the game was pushed from fall 2025 to May 2026), saying he "felt really good" about the timeline, although he acknowledged that "there's always a risk of a delay."

On social network X (formerly Twitter), Rockstar Games also made an official announcement, repeating the familiar reason: "The additional months will allow us to complete the game with the level of polish you expect and deserve."

The delay announcement comes amid internal turmoil at Rockstar, which recently laid off more than 30 employees in its UK and Canada offices. According to Bloomberg, Take-Two accused these former employees of "serious misconduct," specifically "distributing and discussing confidential information in a public forum."

So gamers will have to wait longer than expected. GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19 next year on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Meanwhile, the PC version has not been announced yet.
