Strong growth, revenue of nearly 100 trillion VND

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism , in the first 9 months of 2025, the capital welcomed more than 26 million visitors, of which international visitors reached over 6.8 million and domestic visitors more than 19.2 million. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at nearly 100 trillion VND, an increase of more than 15% over the same period last year. These figures continue to affirm the attractiveness of Hanoi - a destination that has been honored for many consecutive years in prestigious international rankings.
Not only has the number of visitors increased, but accommodation and service activities have also made steady progress. The city currently has more than 4,700 accommodation establishments with about 72,000 rooms, with an average occupancy rate of over 65% in the past 9 months. Many 4-5 star hotels have recorded occupancy rates of 75-80%, reflecting the sustainable recovery of the high-end segment.

Notably, the capital’s tourism industry has continued to receive many international awards, including Hanoi being honored as “ World’s Leading Short-Term Tourism Destination” and “Asia’s Best MICE Tourism Destination”. This is a testament to the tourism industry’s efforts to promote, build its brand and improve service quality.

Typical products such as tours to explore the old town, experience street food, visit the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Temple of Literature, or the program "Memories of Hanoi" at the Hoan Kiem Lake walking street attract a large number of international and domestic visitors. In addition, rural tourism associated with traditional craft villages and suburban eco-tourism are also gradually being effectively exploited.

Along with growth, state management of tourism has been focused. The city has carried out many inspections and rectifications of travel business activities, accommodation establishments, destinations and food services. Strict handling of violations helps the tourism market operate transparently, creating trust for domestic and foreign tourists.

Promotional activities are carried out in a variety of ways, including participation in international tourism fairs, cooperation with airlines and major travel agencies, and the promotion of digital media. Many promotional videos of Hanoi are broadcast on international television channels, contributing to spreading the image of a friendly and unique capital.

Sustainable development, digital transformation

Entering the fourth quarter of 2025, Hanoi's tourism industry aims to maintain growth momentum and move towards sustainable development. The tourism industry focuses on three key areas: promoting digital transformation, improving the quality of human resources, and building new, unique, and competitive products.
Digital technology is widely used in promotion, electronic ticket sales at tourist attractions, and accommodation management. The Hanoi tourism digital map application has provided multilingual information about destinations, services, restaurants, and hotels, helping visitors easily access and experience.

Regarding human resources, the city cooperates with universities and vocational training institutions to organize many training courses to improve skills and professionalism for tour guides, accommodation staff and hotel managers. Human resource quality is considered a key factor to improve competitiveness in the context of deep international integration.

In the long term, Hanoi continues to invest in tourism infrastructure, focusing on preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage, while ensuring development associated with environmental protection. Effective exploitation of potential, coupled with strict management, will help the capital not only maintain growth momentum but also affirm its position as a leading tourist destination in the region and the world.
