Mr. Nguyen Van Dong - owner of the Facebook account Dong Nguyen - is one of the "enthusiastic" members of the group Yeu Bep. Every few weeks, he invites "online diners" to eat simple country meals with his family.

His article is not elaborate, just a picture of a daily meal with braised fish, vegetable soup, steamed sticky rice... and a simple opening sentence: "It's the father who cooks breakfast for me to happily go to school", but it is strangely attractive.

For some posts, he received thousands of likes and hundreds of comments from netizens. Some asked for the recipe, others told stories about their childhood with their mother's cooking, and some left a short sentence: "Looking at the food makes me miss home so much!"

From bridge engineer to family "head chef"

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Van Dong (born in 1987) said that he used to be a bridge engineer and had worked for a long time as a bridge construction engineer, living with his family in Binh Duong .

In 2022, he and his family decided to move back to his wife's hometown in Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen (now Dak Lak) to slow down. Although the standard of living in the countryside is somewhat lower, in return, they have simple expenses, a clean living environment and most importantly, they can spend time together.

After welcoming his first child, Dong began to "take his first steps" into the kitchen, starting with meals for his wife after giving birth and gradually it became a habit. By the time he realized it, he was the main chef for the whole family.

For him, there is nothing special about men cooking: "There are many famous chefs who are men. Cooking helps me share the housework with my wife because when my wife is pregnant or raising small children, the work is doubled or tripled.

Before, my job was quite stressful so I considered cooking, washing dishes or playing with my children as a way to relieve stress.

Not to mention, my daughter also likes to cook in the kitchen with her dad. This is a way to help the whole family bond and love each other more."

He usually prepares and cooks each family meal in about an hour, focusing on dishes his wife and children like. "If my wife and children don't like what I cook, I have to sit and eat alone, it's very sad," he said jokingly.

'I'm a big fan of Dong Nguyen's family!'

Group Yeu Bep is a gathering place for people who love cooking and discovering delicious dishes from all over the country. For Mr. Nguyen Van Dong, this is the ideal place to share his family's daily dishes, helping everyone have more diverse menus.

Mr. Dong considers himself a "true country person", born and raised in the countryside so he is very familiar with the rustic flavors of country dishes.

Realizing that the Love Kitchen group lacked articles about rustic, simple country rice dishes, he immediately posted his family's meal with the hope of rekindling the simple, familiar spirit of loving the kitchen, true to the rural life he was living.

Under his posts, many "online diners" not only gave compliments but also shared stories and memories associated with rustic dishes like his.

"The meal reminds me of the smell of smoke from the kitchen in my hometown. The rice may be simple but it is full of love, no delicacy can compare";

"The happiest wife in the world"; "The husband is hardworking. He still cooks enough food for the children to eat before going to school early in the morning"; "I've become a die-hard fan of Dong's family, Dong!"... - some comments.

Not only "showing off" his home-cooked meals, Mr. Dong also enthusiastically guides delicious recipes for those who need them. His recipes are concise, detailed, and easy to understand, so they are very popular.

Despite his passion and frequent sharing, Mr. Dong also frankly said that making cooking videos on platforms like TikTok or YouTube is still an unrealized plan due to lack of time.

The most special thing about Dong is the sincerity in the way he cooks: "I do it according to the instincts of a husband and a father.

I don't know how to advise everyone, but in my opinion, to have the spirit to cook every day can only be because of love for family, parents, wife and children.
