This is a meaningful activity aimed at spreading a reading culture in every family, contributing to building a healthy and sustainable spiritual life in the community.

The competition aims to encourage families to build and develop "family libraries" and "clan libraries," thereby fostering a habit of regular reading, nurturing a spirit of self-learning, and strengthening family bonds. Beyond simply inspiring a love of reading, the competition also seeks to honor exemplary families with creative and effective approaches to maintaining and developing a reading culture, ultimately replicating these positive models in society.

Participants are family members living, studying, and working in Hanoi . The organizers especially encourage the participation of multiple generations within a family, aiming to foster interaction, connection, and the sharing of reading values between grandparents, parents, and children.

The competition was implemented simultaneously across 100% of communes and wards, ensuring widespread participation and high impact.

Contest format:

Each family will create a video clip with a maximum duration of 7 minutes, consisting of two parts.

- The introductory section (maximum 3 minutes) introduces the family members, the bookshelf space, and typical reading activities within the family.

- The book introduction (maximum 4 minutes) should focus on presenting a representative work from the bookshelf, expressing feelings, the value of the content, and the connection between members through reading. The video must ensure clear image and sound quality, a minimum resolution of 640x480px, using popular formats such as mp4, avi, mpeg, mkv… and be suitable for uploading on digital platforms.

The competition is organized in two levels. At the grassroots level, communes and wards will launch, receive, and select 1 to 2 outstanding video clips to submit to the city-level competition, to be completed before June 8, 2026.

At the city level, the Organizing Committee will receive entries from June 8th to June 12th, 2026; judging will take place from June 15th to June 20th, 2026. The awards ceremony is expected to be held between June 26th and June 28th, 2026.

City-level entries should be submitted to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports (via the Hanoi Cultural and Library Center, 47 Ba Trieu Street, Cua Nam Ward) either in person or by mail /email.

It is expected that there will be a total of 130 awards, including 1 First Prize, 5 Second Prizes, 10 Third Prizes, 110 Consolation Prizes, and 4 Special Prizes. Winning families will receive a Certificate of Merit and a cash prize according to current regulations.

Through this competition, Hanoi continues to affirm the role of the family as a "cultural cell," the source and nurturing ground for reading habits, contributing to building a learning society and sustainable development.
