(NLĐO) - During the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday of the Year of the Snake, Hanoi welcomed approximately 1 million tourists , generating a total revenue of 3,530 billion VND.
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, during the 9-day Tet holiday (from January 25th to February 2nd, 2025, which is from the 26th day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Dragon to the 5th day of the 1st lunar month of the Year of the Snake), Hanoi is estimated to welcome approximately 1 million tourists, a 6% increase compared to the same period last year.

During this period, the number of international visitors to Hanoi was 142,000, an increase of 15.8% compared to the same period last year, mainly from China, South Korea, Taiwan (China), the US, the UK, Malaysia, India, Germany, France, Japan, etc. Domestic tourists totaled 859,000, an increase of 5% compared to the same period last year.
Total revenue from tourism is estimated at 3,530 billion VND, an increase of 7.85% compared to the same period last year.
According to Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism, this result stems from the thorough preparation of tourism areas, attractions, and businesses.
From the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), tourist areas and attractions have focused on upgrading the quality of tourism services, launching many new tourism programs and products, as well as organizing cultural activities and art performances from the Gregorian New Year extending through the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake 2025 to stimulate demand and attract tourists to visit and experience.
During this year's Lunar New Year holiday, the city hosted many vibrant and attractive events, drawing tourists to visit and experience them.
Activities and events extending throughout the Lunar New Year have allowed visitors to the capital to experience the traditional Tet atmosphere of the Northern Delta region, such as: the "Vietnamese Village Tet 2025" program at Mong Phu communal house - the ancient village tourist destination in Duong Lam (Son Tay town); the Tet celebration program at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village (Dong Mo, Son Tay town) with the theme "Spring Comes to the Village"; the "Spring Colors of the Year of the Snake 2025" program at the Ho Guom Cultural Information Center; the "Vietnamese Tet - Street Tet 2025" program in the Old Quarter; and the exhibition of traditional Tet spaces at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Site.
During and after the Lunar New Year, tourist attractions continue to organize vibrant and attractive cultural and artistic activities to attract visitors, such as fireworks displays and New Year's Eve performances at Hoan Kiem Lake and My Dinh National Stadium; New Year's Eve performances at Ngoc Son Temple, the stage in front of the Monument to the Heroes Who Died for the Fatherland, Lac Long Quan Flower Garden (Tay Ho District); Van Quan Lake (Ha Dong District), etc.
In addition, localities have made thorough preparations and are ready to organize major festivals at the beginning of the year such as: the festival commemorating the 236th anniversary of the victory at Ngoc Hoi - Dong Da (Dong Da district), the Huong Pagoda Festival (My Duc district), the Giong Festival at Soc Temple (Soc Son district), the Co Loa Festival (Dong Anh district), the Hai Ba Trung Temple Festival (Me Linh district), the Tan Vien Son Thanh Festival (Ba Vi district)...
Furthermore, to boost tourism activities from the beginning of the year, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will coordinate with the Hai Ba Trung District People's Committee to organize the "Hanoi Tourism Welcomes 2025" program at the Hai Ba Trung Temple, Pagoda, and Communal House National Special Monument and the "Friendly Spring Trip 2025" program in Me Linh District. These are two promotional and tourism stimulus activities that will kick off the year 2025 for the capital's tourism industry.
