On the morning of April 18th, Mr. Nguyen Duc Lenh, Deputy Director of the State Bank of Vietnam's Regional Branch 2, stated that by the end of March 2025, the total amount of remittances transferred to Ho Chi Minh City reached 2.4 billion USD, an increase of 19.6% compared to the previous quarter.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Lenh, remittances from the Asian region continue to account for the highest proportion, at 48.7%, and have increased sharply by 46.1% compared to the previous quarter (Q4/2024).
This is the highest growth rate compared to other regions. The strong inflow of remittances stems from the effectiveness of monetary and foreign exchange policies; the investment and business environment; the development of the labor market; and the efficient operation of remittance companies and commercial banks…
Remittances continue to flow strongly into Ho Chi Minh City.
Accordingly, remittances transferred through remittance companies in the quarter reached US$1.757 billion and through commercial banks reached US$655 million. In 2024, remittances to Ho Chi Minh City reached a record high of approximately US$9.6 billion.
Regarding the future trend of remittances, experts believe that the country's economy and Ho Chi Minh City's economy will continue to grow positively, and the investment and business environment will be favorable. These factors will positively impact the attraction of remittances and the effective utilization of remittance resources in 2025 and subsequent years.
Regarding exchange rates, this morning, commercial banks listed the USD at around 25,700 VND/USD for buying and 26,060 VND/USD for selling, an increase of about 40 VND/USD compared to yesterday. The USD price at banks has started to exceed the 26,000 VND mark and has maintained a high level in recent days.
