On October 8, Bkav Cyber Security Company said that there are two addresses, zaloweb.me and zaloweb.vn, which are both fake websites created by bad guys to trick users.
It is worth mentioning that these two addresses are always at the top of the results when users search for the keyword “zalo web” on Google. Therefore, just these two fake websites have attracted millions of daily visits.
According to Bkav, to deceive users, the websites are disguised as Zalo's real homepage, making it difficult to distinguish between real and fake, with instructions on how to log in on computers in many different ways.
However, when clicking on the "login zalo on the web" button, depending on the time, users will be redirected to football betting advertising pages, adult content or virus-containing pages.
Normally, to avoid detection, hackers still allow users to redirect access to the real Zalo homepage, zalo.me.
“We have been monitoring for a while, sometimes bad guys install viruses or display unhealthy content, sometimes they point to the real Zalo homepage address,” said Mr. Vo Duy Khanh, an expert from Bkav.
According to Mr. Khanh, with the need to use Zalo on computer browsers in agencies and offices, there is still a large number of users searching for "zalo web" every day and then accessing fake pages.
“This is a serious threat to national security. Bkav has sent a report to the Ministry of Information and Communications to block these malicious websites. This is not Zalo’s problem, but this chat application is being exploited by bad guys,” Mr. Khanh added.
Bkav experts also recommend that users who accidentally access the above fake websites should immediately scan for viruses to ensure network security.
