Be sincere, don't just "put on a show"!

Over the past few days, the consequences of the storm and floods have been reported in the media and on social networks, causing heartbreak and sorrow throughout the country. When will life return to peace? When will the wounds left by Typhoon No. 3 heal for the people and the affected areas?

Perhaps it's unnecessary to bring back those dry images, clips, and numbers that reveal the irreparable losses suffered by our compatriots in the areas affected by storms, floods, and landslides.

The shared grief of the entire nation in 2024 has been and continues to be comforted and shared through charitable activities and support from people of all walks of life across the country, each in their own way, but all deeply imbued with a sense of brotherhood and national solidarity.

Ủng hộ đồng bào vùng lũ: Hãy thành tâm, đừng 'làm hàng'!
The relief shipment, coordinated by youth from the General Department of Market Management, has reached the flood-affected provinces of Yen Bai, Lao Cai, Cao Bang , and others.

Therefore, during these days, in addition to material support, many localities have proactively postponed or delayed planned cultural programs and events to focus on the flood-affected people, to show empathy and share their burdens.

Those who persevered and weathered the storms and floods, though facing countless difficulties ahead, can rest assured knowing that millions of people across the country are joining hands, reaching out to them, to those places filled with tears and suffering, but also truly embodying the traditional spirit of "mutual support" and "when one horse is in pain, the whole herd stops eating."

International friends are also sharing the immense loss suffered by our compatriots in the areas affected by the recent storms and floods, both with material support and moral encouragement.

Providing relief, sharing, and supporting people affected by storms and floods is an activity that all localities, agencies, units, and people nationwide are joining hands to respond to, with the spirit of both a duty and a command from the heart, a command of life.

In that sense, it would be complete and humane if the movement to support and assist those who have just experienced the floods from typhoon number 3 could maintain its effectiveness and integrity.

Effective relief means that essential supplies such as food, water, medicine, clothing, and building materials reach the people in need as quickly as possible, targeting the right recipients to ensure timely and effective results. Relief supplies must have an immediate and practical impact on people's lives, contributing to the early stabilization of life for those affected by storms and floods.

Here, local authorities, in addition to providing relief within their capabilities, need to promptly develop well-coordinated plans with political and social organizations, social organizations, charitable organizations, and benevolent individuals to ensure that everyone receives what they need, adhering to the government's directive that no one should go hungry, cold, or homeless after the storms and floods. The most important thing is to avoid the accumulation and piling up of relief supplies in warehouses and collection points, which would reduce the effectiveness of the relief efforts.

To put it properly, we must prevent any negative incidents from occurring in the distribution of relief supplies to the people, ensuring that goods, food, relief items, and even money do not go astray or to the wrong address.

To put it simply, as the old saying goes, " It's not the gift itself, but the way it's given ." Giving, supporting with a dollar, a kilogram of rice, a set of clothes, a box of instant noodles is valuable, but it needs to be given as a representation of kind hearts and generous spirit, a sharing of compassion at the highest level, and absolutely not as challenging or pretentious posts from some individuals, as seen on social media in recent days.

To speak of a healthy environment means ensuring not only that relief supplies arrive safely, but also that the safety of the people and relief workers is protected from tragic incidents that could result in loss of life. Just recently, stories of a relief worker falling into the water and dying, or a relief vehicle overturning en route, serve as a crucial reminder of this need.

I really, really hope for things like that.
