With the summer holidays approaching, the demand for childcare in urban areas and industrial zones increases significantly. Many parents not only want their children to receive attentive and safe care, but also expect a structured summer environment to help their children develop skills and prepare for the new school year. In response to this, the Department of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) is strengthening its guidance and tightening management of preschools and kindergartens to ensure the safety of children during the summer.

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training, Long An province currently has 101 public and private schools and 384 independent private preschools and kindergartens registered to organize summer activities in 2025. Of the more than 20,375 children registered to attend these educational facilities during the summer, the majority are concentrated in independent private preschools and kindergartens. The organization of summer activities is carried out with the permission of the leaders of the District, Town, and City Departments of Education and Training, ensuring safety, compliance with regulations, and close supervision from the management agencies.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, Huynh Phuong Vu, in order to strengthen management, especially for preschools and kindergartens during the summer, the Department of Education and Training has directed the District Departments of Education and Training to coordinate with the People's Committees at the commune level to review and fully update the list of preschool and kindergarten facilities that organize summer activities in their areas; at the same time, strengthen inspection and management of independent private preschools and kindergartens, resolutely preventing unlicensed facilities from operating.

Simultaneously, the Department is also stepping up its efforts to raise awareness about children's rights, skills to prevent violence and injuries, and to build a safe and friendly learning environment. Summer activities are organized in a diverse manner, focusing on life skills education , along with healthy recreational activities such as music , art, and sports, to create a space for the holistic development of children.

In Tan An City, Long An Province, Sao Mai Kindergarten (Ward 3) has developed a summer activity plan focusing on ensuring the safety and attentive care of children. The school assigns teachers and staff appropriately according to regulations: Each class has two teachers in charge, and a medical staff member and security guard are on duty throughout the day.

The school administration regularly checks the classrooms during mealtimes, playtime, and study time to promptly detect and address any emerging situations, creating a safe environment for children during the summer.

According to Le Thi Bich Thuy, Deputy Principal of Sao Mai Kindergarten, the school will organize summer activities for approximately 36 children in the summer of 2025. The school management encourages parents to join the class's Zalo group to receive necessary updates and jointly monitor their children through the camera system installed in the classroom. This not only gives parents greater peace of mind when sending their children to school but also contributes to strengthening cooperation between families and the school in caring for and ensuring the safety of children throughout the summer activities.

Huong Duong Kindergarten (Ward 2, Kien Tuong town) has organized summer activities for three consecutive years, thanks to which the preparation work is carried out systematically, focusing on ensuring food safety and hygiene, and preventing diseases and injuries for children.

The principal of Huong Duong Kindergarten, Nguyen Thi Chien, said: “Regarding food safety and hygiene, the school strictly adheres to a three-step process, with fresh food sourced daily from reputable suppliers. We have an on-site kitchen to proactively control the quality of ingredients, portion sizes, and safety of children's meals.”

In addition to organizing recreational activities, many private preschools and kindergartens also focus on fostering life skills and creating opportunities for children to develop their individual abilities and talents. To suit young children, summer activities at Anh Viet Preschool (Ward 6, Tan An City) are designed flexibly.

Specifically, children participate in many activities that develop both physically and mentally, such as swimming, aerobics, modern dance, drama, etc. The facility also regularly organizes field trips, tree planting, learning about plants and animals, caring for small pets, and allowing children to conduct science experiments such as making mini volcanoes and blowing soap bubbles. Through these activities, children play, observe, ask questions, learn to explain natural phenomena, and stimulate their scientific thinking.

To help children develop their language skills, the preschool organizes singing activities and English cartoon viewing to familiarize them with the language, reduce the pressure of traditional learning, and increase their interest.

Similar to Anh Viet Kindergarten, Yeu Tre Kindergarten (Loc Giang commune, Duc Hoa district) also organizes summer activities in the form of extracurricular and hands-on experiences. Children have the opportunity to try out music lessons, swimming lessons, and learn English. According to Nguyen Thi Quynh Nhu, manager of the Yeu Tre Preschool: “The facility regularly organizes field trips to historical sites to foster patriotism in children from a young age. In particular, the facility has a dedicated kitchen area where children can experience cooking classes, thereby developing life skills, understanding household chores, and awareness of nutrition. In addition, the facility also focuses on organizing many camping trips, folk games, gardening activities, etc., so that children can have fun, exercise, improve their physical fitness, and develop essential life skills.”

Thanks to thorough preparation and close coordination between the education sector and local authorities, summer activities at preschools and kindergartens not only meet parents' childcare needs but also contribute to creating a safe and enriching environment for children's holistic development.
