Hendrio Araujo officially became a Vietnamese citizen

(NLDO) - After completing the naturalization procedures, Brazilian midfielder Hendrio Araujo officially became a Vietnamese citizen with the new name Do Hoang Hen.

Hendrio Araujo comes from the famous Barcelona training center and spent many years playing for famous clubs in Brazil, Spain, Portugal... before moving to Vietnam to play in the V-League.

The 31-year-old midfielder possesses good personal technique, sharp vision, dangerous finishing and modern attacking football tactics.

He and Nguyen Xuan Son (Rafaelson) contributed greatly to the miracle of Nam Dinh Club winning the V-League championship for two consecutive years.

Previously, Hendrio was an important pillar in the Binh Dinh Club squad, bringing home the V-League 3rd place title and the National Cup runner-up in the 2022 season.

After achieving success with the Southern team, Hoang Hen moved to Hanoi Club in the middle of the 2024-2025 season but has not been registered to play in the 2025-2026 season.

After more than 5 years of continuously playing football and living in the S-shaped country, Hendrio can communicate in Vietnamese and meets the requirements to apply for Vietnamese citizenship.

On October 16, the Brazilian-born foreign midfielder officially became a Vietnamese citizen under the name Do Hoang Hen. He has scored a total of 29 goals and 31 assists, and can play well as an attacking midfielder or on the wing.

Hoang Hen's naturalization as a Vietnamese citizen also opens up more opportunities for the national team to have the services of a world- class midfielder.

Hoang Hen and Xuan Son used to be a fearsome "twin" in the V-League and the reunion of this duo will help the Vietnamese team's attack become sharper and more effective.

Xuan Son is recovering after a period of absence due to injury and may return to competition in the near future. If the Vietnamese team can strengthen Xuan Son and Hoang Hen in the rematch against Malaysia at the end of March 2026, coach Kim Sang-sik's team will have a good chance of winning a ticket to the 2027 Asian Cup finals.
