Before deciding to get married, Ms. Nguyen Thi Tu Anh (1989) knew that Mr. Nam had difficulty conceiving because he had complications from mumps that led to no sperm. In 2017, they officially became a family. After the wedding, the desire to become parents urged Ms. Tu Anh and her husband to go to many places from the hospital in Hue to hospitals in the South and the North, hoping for hope, but even though they tried all kinds of medicine for treatment, the results were still not good.
Through a friend who had experienced a similar situation and successfully conceived at the Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital, they found a lifeline. Without hesitation, they decided to temporarily put aside all work and book a flight to Hanoi to seek new hope.
After examining and evaluating the couple's condition, Master, Doctor Dinh Huu Viet - Head of Andrology Department said that in addition to complications from mumps leading to azoospermia, when conducting in-depth endocrine-gene-chromosome testing, Mr. Nam also had Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY).
Klinefelter syndrome (47,XXY) is a chromosomal abnormality that occurs in men who have more than one X chromosome in their chromosome set. In adult men, this syndrome will cause little or no sperm, causing spermatogonial disorders and infertility.
In the past, cases like Mr. Nam's had a very remote chance of having children. However, thanks to the great advances in the field of andrology and assisted reproduction, especially the Micro TESE testicular microsurgery technique and in vitro fertilization (IVF), men with Klinefelter's syndrome now have the opportunity to have their own children.
Coincidentally, in 2020, at the time they went to the hospital for examination, Golden Week was taking place and there was a program to review 20 cases of Micro TESE sperm testicular microsurgery for free, so they submitted their application. With much hope and anxiety, luck finally came when they became one of the 20 families to receive that support package.

The day Tu Anh had her eggs retrieved was also the day Nam had his surgery. The Micro TESE surgery was successful beyond expectations, finding very good quality sperm.
Because Mr. Nam had Klinefelter syndrome, after creating and cultivating the embryos until the 5th day, the testing step to select healthy embryos became an extremely important stage. This was also the most exciting and anticipated moment in the couple's journey.
Just like a dream, from 9 embryos on day 5, after testing, the couple received unexpected good news with the result of 5 healthy embryos. Happiness seemed to burst when this miracle happened. Ms. Tu Anh emotionally shared: "At first, I only dared to hope for 1-2 healthy embryos, but when I heard that there were 5 embryos, I was really surprised and extremely happy."
On the day of embryo transfer, Master, Doctor Le Thi Thu Hien - the hospital's professional director, with her skillful hands gently brought the "beautiful little life" to the couple.
After the embryo transfer, due to the nature of his work, Mr. Nam had to temporarily leave his wife and return to Hue. On the day of the beta HCG test, the moment he received the good results, she could not believe her eyes, so she immediately called Mr. Nam. Through the phone screen, the couple could not hold back their emotions, talking and crying - those were tears of many feelings, tears of the days of waiting that had come to fruition.
Amidst the Covid-19 crisis, Tu Anh decided to stay near the hospital to monitor her pregnancy in the first few months. In the 5th week of pregnancy, the happiness was indescribable when the ultrasound revealed that she was carrying twins. However, that joy did not last long, just two days later, she suddenly started bleeding heavily, threatening to miscarry.
Ms. Tu Anh was immediately hospitalized and treated by Master Doctor Hoang Van Khanh, a specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the hospital. Thanks to the dedication of the medical team and her optimism, the condition of the mother and her three children gradually stabilized. When her pregnancy reached more than 9 weeks, Ms. Tu Anh decided to return to Hue with her husband to focus on her pregnancy.

After many days of waiting, the two little angels Truong Phuc Lam and Truong Quynh Nhi finally cried out when they were born. Mr. Nam, Ms. Tu Anh and the grandparents were all in tears, welcoming the two little angels with all their love. Time flies so fast, now the two babies are 4 years old, adorable and mischievous like two happy musical notes.
They always silently thank Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital, especially the dedicated doctors, who not only brought miracles, but also lit up a journey full of love, turning seemingly impossible dreams into sweet reality.
To continue accompanying infertile parents, from May 12 to May 25, Hanoi Andrology and Infertility Hospital organized the program "Golden Week - Nurturing Happiness 2025" with the theme "Golden opportunity for the dream of finding a beloved child" with many preferential programs to help parents have the opportunity to welcome their beloved child soon.
