According to Deputy Director in charge of the Hanoi Department of Health - Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung, in order to be proactive in disease prevention and control for the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2, the Hanoi Center for Disease Control (CDC) was assigned to coordinate with the Department of Disease Prevention (Ministry of Health) and units of the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security to strengthen environmental sanitation, disease prevention; monitor, detect early cases and handle them promptly, not allowing the epidemic to break out before, during and after the celebration.

"We proactively check and monitor the quality of water sources at factories, water supply stations; hotels, restaurants and places where delegates stay. In particular, the quality of drinking water provided by facilities for the event must ensure chemical, physical and microbiological indicators according to regulations," said Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung.

Hanoi CDC is focusing on implementing activities to monitor epidemics and infectious diseases in the community; especially high-risk groups such as dengue fever; hand, foot and mouth disease; seasonal flu and emerging infectious diseases.

According to the Hanoi CDC, last week, the capital recorded 145 cases of dengue fever in 59 wards and communes, an increase compared to the previous week. The week also recorded 6 more dengue fever outbreaks, with 12 currently active outbreaks.

According to the Hanoi CDC, the number of dengue fever cases is on the rise, with some outbreaks having many patients and complicated developments. The results of monitoring the outbreaks show that the insect index is at a high risk level. It is predicted that the number of cases may continue to increase according to the annual epidemic cycle.

Hand, foot and mouth disease also recorded 64 new cases and 1 outbreak in the community.

As the big holiday is approaching, Hanoi CDC believes that in the coming time, some epidemics in the city may increase due to complicated weather conditions and increased travel when people from other provinces and cities and tourists come to the city in late August and early September, during the organization of major events and holidays in the area.

Therefore, Hanoi CDC has closely coordinated with relevant units to monitor the epidemic situation in order to promptly detect cases of the disease in order to organize investigation, containment, and treatment of the epidemic.

Hanoi strengthens epidemic prevention and control, ensuring safety for people coming to watch parades, marches and activities during the great holiday.

Ward and commune health stations deploy plans to ensure environmental sanitation and disease prevention in the area, especially in areas where activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day (September 2) are taking place. Strengthen monitoring and detection of patients at decentralized health facilities, on software systems and in the community, especially dengue fever and hand, foot and mouth disease, to promptly investigate and handle cases and outbreaks, and prevent the disease from spreading widely.

At the same time, proactively implement Chikungunya disease prevention combined with dengue fever prevention, through campaigns to kill larvae and vectors, spray chemicals to kill adult mosquitoes in high-risk areas and epidemic areas, ensuring safety for people coming to watch parades, marches and activities during the festival.

According to Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hung, to serve the grand ceremony, it is expected that the capital's health sector will mobilize 346 staff; 37 ambulances, divided into 88 emergency teams (of which 37 ambulance teams). This number does not include those on duty at the main emergency center (Xanh Pon General Hospital, Hanoi Heart Hospital), medical facilities in the area, as well as medical forces at crowded places and for training.

Hospitals under the Hanoi Department of Health are required to increase medical examination and treatment. Each unit must have at least one mobile emergency team on standby, ready to provide emergency care and transport patients when required; and have 5-10 hospital beds ready to serve activities in case of unusual situations.

At the same time, hospitals, as well as the Hanoi 115 Emergency Center, must prepare emergency teams, each team consisting of 1 doctor, 2 nurses, 1 ambulance with full equipment, emergency medicine, and necessary equipment to participate in performing medical duties at the locations of activities as assigned.

In addition, the 115 Emergency Center must prepare ambulances and staff on duty to participate in emergency transportation when there is a situation to respond to the transport of infectious disease cases.

Hanoi Department of Health ensures adequate forces, means, equipment, supplies, medicines... to meet medical needs for forces participating in the mission, delegates and the masses.
