Some milk-based nutritional products include additional food information on the label.

In recent years, a number of new regulations on product labeling have been introduced, and many familiar milk products for young children have added the label "supplementary food" on their packaging. In the context of increasing awareness of nutrition, this has made many mothers wonder: how should we understand and use it appropriately?

Supplements cannot completely replace the main source of nutrition, but play an important role in supporting the comprehensive development of children. These products provide essential nutrients that are lacking in the daily diet or due to the specific living environment, helping to strengthen the immune system, brain development and physical growth. For example: Children with poor appetite but are very active may need carbohydrate-rich supplements to provide energy. Meanwhile, children who eat little vegetables or milk may need more vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and omega 3 to support their eyes, bones and brain.

As the market has grown, some baby milk products have been labeled as “supplementary foods.” This makes it easier for parents to identify specific nutritional supplements for their children. Typically, these products will have labels with detailed instructions on how to use them, including age-specific dosages to avoid under- or over-use. The recommended dosage usually ranges from 2 to 3 boxes per day, depending on the child’s needs.

Decree 111/2021/ND-CP of the Government on product labels stipulates that the common name "supplementary food" must be clearly stated in the correct font size and position, alongside the commercial names (powdered milk, ready-to-drink nutritional milk, etc.) that are familiar to consumers. Circular 29/2020/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health also requires the addition of a warning "this product is not a medicine and is not intended to replace medicine".

Nutifood GrowPLUS+ - a brand that has continuously maintained the top positions in terms of market share in the powdered milk and ready-to-drink milk segment for children for 6 consecutive years (2019 - 2024).

Products must be transparent about their nutritional composition and the content of important nutrients such as carbohydrates (starch, sugar), fiber and essential vitamins. These are essential factors for children's development, helping mothers easily choose products that suit their children's nutritional needs, in accordance with the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Institute of Nutrition (Ministry of Health).

One of the market leading brands in the powdered milk and ready-to-mix powdered milk segment is Nutifood GrowPLUS+, with product lines such as: Nutifood GrowPLUS+ Malnutrition (Red) supports children to gain weight - increase height, Nutifood GrowPLUS+ Height Boosting (Silver) supports height development, Nutifood GrowPLUS+ Colos Immunel supports increased resistance,...

These products are designed to meet the specific nutritional needs of children, and have consistently maintained a top position in market share and revenue over the years.

However, although supplements can support children's healthy development, parents need to remember that they cannot completely replace main meals. Parents should give their children supplements after meals or after exercise as a snack, to ensure that their children receive enough necessary nutrients, supporting their bodies to develop healthily and more comprehensively.

When choosing milk-based supplements for children, parents need to clearly understand the product's function and follow the instructions for use to ensure the best health for their children. Reading the packaging label carefully and choosing the right product for your child's nutritional needs is an important factor for high efficiency.
