Border regions overcome difficulties.
The houses cling to the slopes, scattered, makeshift, and lacking many basic infrastructure conditions. Constantly worried about landslides, and unable to even cultivate a garden or raise livestock to improve their lives, many households in Zrượt village (A Tiêng commune, Tây Giang district) have lived without stable housing for a long time, since before 2015.
The shortcomings were immediately apparent, but the relocation of residents to the new site in Zrượt faced numerous obstacles. Many expressed concerns about demolishing their homes to move to the new location. Others were reluctant to part with their gardens and did not agree to the government leveling the land. These dissenting voices stalled the major initiative...
That was the reality unfolding before Alang Thi Alop, the head of the Front Committee in Zruot village. But the young woman thought differently. Looking at the neighboring villages, visiting the successfully resettled hamlets to listen, ask, and learn, Alop used the reality of her own hometown in Tay Giang to recount the story to each household.
She meticulously analyzed the advantages and benefits of the resettlement policy, highlighting the advantages for the future of the entire community, so that they would understand and take the lead in supporting the relocation of their homes to level the land.

Initially, about ten households moved, then the movement spread to others, until the entire village of Zrượt, with 59 households and over 200 inhabitants, gradually relocated to new homes starting in 2020. Just a few months later, thanks to that "historic" relocation, the villagers escaped the devastating flash flood that followed Typhoon No. 9. The people have trusted Alăng Thị Alớp ever since.
Later, she easily conveyed all her policies to the people, always achieving high levels of consensus. They believed and followed her advice, from improving their home gardens and village landscapes, contributing labor and effort to build communal communal houses, and helping each other restore rice fields that had been silted up by floods. Prosperity gradually came...
Difficulties are far from over in Ch'Ơm commune of Tây Giang district, but in this remote border region, the joint efforts of associations, organizations, the government, and border guards have gradually helped to transform the highlands. Mr. Bhling Đắt, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ch'Ơm commune, said that as one of the eight key communes for national defense, Ch'Ơm has a total of over 480 households, with more than 64% of them being poor households.

"Our top priority is promoting the construction of sturdy housing, coupled with encouraging poor people and poor households to proactively strive to escape poverty. Natural disasters and fires have caused many families to fall into hardship."
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune promptly coordinated with the People's Council, the People's Committee, relevant departments, and the people in the commune to provide assistance, mobilizing all forces, means, and resources to offer timely support.
Thanks to the support and efforts of the entire community, 73 houses have been built, sturdy and safe from natural disasters, and 11 solidarity houses have been constructed.
In addition, four families affected by the fire received 160 million VND in support to rebuild their homes with the help of organizations and philanthropists. "With new homes, the people are starting to think about developing their economy and gradually finding ways to escape poverty," Mr. Dat shared.
Building a new life
In the context of overall development, building a new way of life should not only focus on improving material living standards but also emphasize the development of culture and spirituality for all segments of the population.
Ms. Tran Thi Minh Yen, Chairwoman of the Duy Xuyen District Women's Union, shared that the "Building a Family with 5 No's and 3 Cleanliness Standards" campaign, launched by the District Women's Union, is a practical activity to respond to the campaigns "All People Unite to Build New Rural Areas and Civilized Urban Areas," "Families Free from Poverty," and "No Violations of Laws and Social Evils"... All criteria aim to create transformation and contribute to the effective implementation of the National Target Program for Building New Rural Areas.

"Women's associations at all levels, from district to grassroots, are stepping up the organization of activities to promote awareness and new thinking among women regarding the 8 criteria of the campaign associated with building new rural areas by diversifying the forms and content of propaganda."
To focus resources on helping households that have not yet met all eight criteria, each local branch will select the appropriate criteria to support. Each household will receive assistance in a specific way, linked to the missing or unmet criteria, based on the wishes and actual needs of the family.
"Among these, the most prominent is helping people escape poverty based on multidimensional criteria through support for livelihoods, access to loans, and training in production and business knowledge..." - Ms. Yen informed.
Mr. Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, said that many efforts have been made in the construction of a new life, most notably the implementation of national target programs for building new rural areas and civilized urban areas.
However, the specific characteristics of each region and locality are very different, and the criteria are increasingly being raised, focusing on substance, requiring each region and locality to make even greater efforts to improve the material and spiritual lives of each village and hamlet community.

"Building a new way of life is crucial, and it must be realized in each village, each hamlet, and each solidarity group because it is directly linked to the living, working, and recreational spaces of the people."
"The Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels will strive even harder to connect and mobilize the joint efforts of the entire political system, social organizations, and the community, especially in the western part of the province, where there are still many difficulties, so that the material and spiritual lives of the people can truly be transformed, truly prosperous, civilized, and happy," shared Le Tri Thanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province.
The project sign "Green Garden - Beautiful House - Beautiful Alley" was installed in Linh Cang village.
The "Green Garden - Beautiful House - Beautiful Alley" project in Linh Cang village (Binh Phu commune, Thang Binh district) was recently inaugurated as a project in emulation to celebrate the 11th Congress of the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Quang Nam province (2024-2029 term) on August 19th.
The "Green Garden - Beautiful House - Beautiful Alley" model was implemented in Linh Cang village from November 2023, aiming to contribute to the creation of a model residential area that excels in environmental landscape criteria in the local new rural development program.
Through this project, the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and the people have carried out many tasks aimed at significantly improving the rural environment and landscape...
In particular, households have undertaken the renovation and improvement of their gardens in accordance with local cultural traditions; the living spaces are in line with local cultural traditions, and the products from their gardens ensure food safety. To date, 100% of households in Linh Cang village have sturdy houses that meet the criteria for model new rural villages in Quang Nam province for the period 2022-2025.
The delegation also visited and paid respects at the Thang Binh District Party Committee's base – a provincial-level historical site; visited several households and unveiled plaques for the "Green Garden - Beautiful House - Beautiful Alley" project. Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, Le Tri Thanh, also presented symbolic support for two drilled wells and 55 crape myrtle trees to the people of Linh Cang village. Building and replicating over 1,600 models of new rural areas and civilized urban areas.
Over the past five years (2019-2024), the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels have continued to play a core role, leading, coordinating, and unifying with member organizations to effectively implement the campaign "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas". As a result, the entire province has developed and replicated 1,691 new models and approaches suitable to the specific conditions of each locality.
During its term, the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels propagated and mobilized the people to promote their role as the main actors, contributing over 121 billion VND, donating over 1.6 million square meters of land, and participating in over 220,000 working days to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas, and achieve sustainable poverty reduction.
At the same time, actively responding to and voluntarily participating in self-governance and self-defense models for security and order at the grassroots level; building culturally exemplary families, clans, and residential areas has achieved many positive results... (T. CONG)
