Accordingly, coach Nguyen Viet Thang has reached an agreement to lead Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc FC in the 2025-2026 First Division. This came as a surprise and also raised hopes, as this strategist had previously led Phu Dong Ninh Binh to a series of records such as: undefeated throughout the season, most points, fewest goals conceded, in addition to winning the championship three rounds early.
During that season, the team led by the strategist born in 1981 won 19 and drew 1 match out of 20 rounds, creating a miraculous unbeaten season.
However, although the agreement has been reached, it is likely that the contract will not be signed yet because Coach Viet Thang is currently undergoing further training in Japan from February to July, completing the second phase of his Pro/AFC coaching certificate.
Earlier, coach Viet Thang posted a farewell message to the 2024-2025 First Division champions on his personal page on July 2nd. "I officially say goodbye to Phu Dong Ninh Binh Club - the place that has given me a wonderful journey."
"I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the club's leadership for their trust and support throughout this time" - a few words from Coach Viet Thang on his farewell day.
At the end of the past season, Coach Viet Thang was also awarded the title of Best Coach of the 2024-2025 First Division League.
Besides changes in the coaching staff, representatives from the Southeast region are also negotiating to bring in players like Xuan Truong, Le Van Son, etc.
Last season, Binh Phuoc FC also spent heavily, bringing in many notable players from the V-League such as Phi Son, Tuan Tai... and star player Cong Phuong. However, their ambition for promotion with this strong potential was dashed in the play-off match against Da Nang when they lost 0-2 at Thong Nhat Stadium on June 27th.
