Nottingham Forest's head coach, Ange Postecoglou, faces the risk of losing his job. |
In a press conference ahead of the Premier League match against Chelsea in round 8, manager Ange Postecoglou spent nearly five minutes refuting criticisms that he is "a failed manager" and only got the chance to lead Nottingham Forest by luck.
The Australian manager asserted that his career "always ends in success if given time," while also not hesitating to recall his disappointment with his former club Tottenham – where he led the club to victory in the Europa League in the 2024/25 season. "I've proven I can build winning teams, but sometimes people forget that too quickly," Postecoglou said.
The statement comes amid immense pressure on the 59-year-old manager at Forest. Following a 0-2 defeat to Newcastle in round 7, his team has yet to win a single match in all competitions, including a loss to FC Midtjylland in the Europa League – where fans chanted for his dismissal.
According to British media, owner Evangelos Marinakis is considering the possibility of changing managers for the second time in a single season. However, Postecoglou remains calm and confident in the path he has chosen.
"I understand the pressure, but I didn't come here to give up after a few bad results. Give me time, and then everyone will see what Nottingham Forest can really become," he asserted.
