Coach Spalletti is about to leave Napoli.

Having just won the Serie A title together, coach Luciano Spalletti is likely to leave Napoli due to a conflict with President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

According to Corriere della Sera , De Laurentiis and Spalletti haven't spoken since Napoli won the Italian league for the first time in 33 years on May 4th. The newspaper asserts that the 64-year-old coach will not work with the Diego Maradona Stadium team after the season ends.

De Laurentiis also did not congratulate Spalletti after he led Napoli to win the Scudetto. According to Corriere della Sera , this detail clearly shows the conflict between the two most powerful figures at the Southern Italian club.

Spalletti did not attend the press conference on May 18th, before the match against Inter – the team he once managed. Goalkeeper Alex Meret attended in his place. During this same press conference, Laurentiis announced important information such as the club's celebratory plans and pre-season preparations for next year. However, the Napoli president did not mention Spalletti at all.

Gazzetta dello Sport suggests Rafael Benitez is a strong candidate to replace Spalleti should he leave. The Spanish coach previously managed Napoli from 2013 to 2015, leading the club to win the Italian Cup in 2014. He is currently unemployed after being sacked by Everton last January. The newspaper claims that negotiations between Benitez and De Laurentiis have already begun.

Meanwhile, another Italian newspaper, Tuttosport, suggested that Antonio Conte was leading the race to replace Spalleti.
