According to the latest report from a Chinese source, HMD is planning to launch a tablet under its own brand, called the HMD SLATE TAB. A key design feature of this product is that it will be based on the Nokia Lumia 2520 – a Windows RT tablet previously released by Nokia. The new product will be launched to replace the previous Nokia T10/T21 models.
Rendered images and leaked specifications of the HMD Slate Tab.
The report states that the HMD SLATE TAB uses a polycarbonate back (a material characteristic of the Nokia Lumia product line), integrates a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of internal storage using the UFS 2.2 format. The device has a 10.6-inch 2K (1200 x 2000 pixel) LCD screen with a 90 Hz refresh rate, dual speakers, three microphones, and stylus support.
On the back, the HMD SLATE TAB features a single 13MP camera, while the front houses an 8MP camera for selfies. It has a 9,250mAh battery supporting 30W wired charging, along with 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, and NFC connectivity.
The Nokia Lumia 2520 is known to be a tablet that came with Windows RT – a mobile operating system platform for the 32-bit ARM architecture and considered a failure by Microsoft. Instead of choosing the Windows platform for its tablet, HMD opted for Android 14.
