Hoa Phat proposes a project to produce steel for high-speed railway tracks in Dung Quat.

Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company has proposed investing in a high-quality steel rolling project, focusing on the production of urban railway rails and high-speed railway rails in the Dung Quat Economic Zone (Quang Ngai).

On March 22, the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province issued a statement regarding Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company's proposal to invest in a high-quality steel project for high-speed railway tracks in the Dung Quat Economic Zone.

Accordingly, Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien - Vice Chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee, head of the Task Force supporting and promoting the progress of large-scale, impactful non-budgetary investment projects in the province - chaired a meeting to hear and address several issues related to the investment proposal for high-quality steel projects by Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company.

To date, Hoa Phat has invested in two integrated steel production complexes in Dung Quat. The Hoa Phat Dung Quat 1 iron and steel complex (with a designed capacity of 6 million tons/year) commenced operations in 2021; the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 iron and steel complex (with a designed capacity of 5.6 million tons of high-quality hot-rolled steel coils/year) will be fully operational in 2025.

In addition, Hoa Phat has also invested in many related satellite projects.

With significant advantages from the Dung Quat Economic Zone such as a deep-water seaport, convenient road and rail transportation, Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company continues to propose investment in several projects. These include a high-quality steel rolling project, focusing on the production of urban railway rails and high-speed railway rails.

Hoa Phat Group plans to implement this project from 2025 to 2027.

For this railway rail manufacturing project, Hoa Phat initially needs more than 42 hectares to implement phase 1 in 2025.

Based on the proposal from Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company and the input from relevant departments, agencies, and localities, Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien stated that the high-quality steel production project is an important and urgent task to serve key national projects in accordance with the directives of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Therefore, the province will promptly resolve any related obstacles and issues to ensure the project is implemented as quickly as possible.

To expedite the project, Mr. Tran Phuoc Hien assigned each relevant department, agency, and locality the task of focusing on handling the matter in accordance with the law, adhering to the completion deadline, and reporting the results to the Provincial People's Committee.

The province requests Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel Joint Stock Company to develop a detailed schedule for each investment phase of the project so that the province can proactively handle and guide and support related issues during the project implementation process in accordance with regulations.

On February 9th, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held a working meeting with Hoa Phat Group at the Dung Quat Economic Zone.

The Prime Minister has directed Hoa Phat Group to focus on deep processing and the production of high-quality steel products to serve both domestic and export markets.

In particular, it serves key national projects, with priority given to the production of high-speed rail steel products.
