This marks one of the first instances where an SAP transition tool can directly orchestrate native cloud provider services for data delivery. By leveraging secure and standardized data transfer acceleration mechanisms, this collaboration delivers a high-performance automation option for file-specific transition scenarios, while adding to the ever-expanding portfolio of existing SAP transition methods supported by the RISE with SAP System Transition Workbench.
These platform-level improvements are also being strongly driven by partners. For example, Accenture has built an AI agent-based deployment platform on Amazon Bedrock, integrating specially designed AI agents directly into the deployment process to automate incident classification, integration mapping, and data transformation validation. Initial results show significantly improved incident handling speeds.
AWS and SAP announced they are expanding their collaboration to help accelerate the cloud transition by automating key transition steps. This solution eliminates IP address conflicts, requires no network redesign or complex remediation, and ensures customers maintain full control over their own network architecture. This enterprise-level private and secure connectivity model also enables faster SAP deployment in customer environments, significantly reducing deployment time and time to deliver value.
At the developer level, code modernization remains one of the biggest tasks in SAP transformation projects, and this is also the area where AI is having the most noticeable impact. AWS and SAP will enable AWS AI programming assistants, including Kiro, to act as a orchestration layer, leveraging the skills and tools of the SAP ABAP Model Context Protocol (MCP) to perform domain-specific tasks. This approach helps developers build and modernize applications faster by integrating AI directly into their familiar workflows.
SAP and AWS also plan to expand the provision of SAP Business Data Cloud, GROW, and SAP Business Technology Platform services to more AWS Regions. This expansion will allow customers operating in industries with stringent compliance requirements or low latency needs to operate SAP systems closer to their business regions.
AWS currently offers over 240 cloud and AI services, including Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Quick, Amazon SageMaker, and Kiro, helping SAP customers extract insights from their business data. In addition, SAP Business Data Cloud Connect for Amazon Athena – a new solution – provides bidirectional integration without the need for data replication between SAP Business Data Cloud and Amazon Athena. This allows teams within the enterprise to build analytics, dashboards, and AI agents on SAP data in real time without delays caused by data replication or technical bottlenecks.
SAP and AWS are also planning to integrate Amazon Connect Customer—part of AWS's Amazon Connect AI agent solution suite—with SAP Service Cloud and SAP Enterprise Service Management (ESM), enabling organizations to deliver agent-based AI customer experiences across all channels at scale.
Furthermore, with support for MCP on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, customers can connect AI agents to SAP ERP systems through the SAP Integration Suite, enabling secure access to SAP business data using standard protocols. This allows operations teams to access insights and act faster, while maintaining enterprise-level security and monitoring capabilities.
