Completion of Can Tho expressway loading

In order to ensure the completion of the Can Tho - Ca Mau expressway project by the end of 2025, contractors are focusing on completing the main route loading in 2024.

The North-South Expressway, Eastern phase 2021-2025, Can Tho - Ca Mau section (Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway) is in the acceleration phase, the target is to complete the load by the end of 2024.

This is an important premise to complete the project by the end of 2025 under the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport .

In 2024, the facades of all bridges of the project will be completed.

Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway is divided into two component projects: Can Tho - Hau Giang and Hau Giang - Ca Mau.

According to the My Thuan Project Management Board (investor), the Can Tho - Hau Giang section has reached 52% of the construction output. To date, contractors have filled 4.3 million m3 of sand. Of which, 31% of the main route has been loaded. 12/40 bridges have completed the entire bridge deck.

For the Hau Giang - Ca Mau component project, contractors have built 6.34 million m3 of sand. Of which, 48% of the first phase of loading has been completed. 25/86 bridges on the route have completed the entire bridge deck.

My Thuan Project Management Board assessed that some construction items of both component projects have not met the progress committed by the contractors.

Mr. Tran Van Thi, Director of My Thuan Project Management Board, said that in recent days, the Board's leaders have inspected the site. At the same time, they have urged contractors to speed up the project's construction progress.

In order to speed up the progress of the entire project, the Director of My Thuan Project Management Board requested contractors to increase personnel and equipment, and organize 3 shifts to speed up the construction progress.

At the same time, it is necessary to ensure the completion of all bridges in 2024.

"In particular, contractors are required to proactively source sand and crushed stone to complete the loading work in 2024. This is a condition for completing the project in 2025," Mr. Thi emphasized.

Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway is more than 110km long, with a total investment of more than 27,500 billion VND, started construction in January 2023, and is expected to be completed in 2025.

This expressway section consists of two component projects: the Can Tho - Hau Giang component project is over 37km long. The total investment is over 10,370 billion VND.

The Hau Giang - Ca Mau component project is over 73km long. The total investment is over 17,152 billion VND.
