Hoang Bach: "Making music for football is my dream."
Hoang Bach performs a song to support Vietnamese football.
Singer Hoang Bach impressed with "This Afternoon on the Field," an exciting music project right from the beginning of the year, especially with the fervent atmosphere of Vietnamese football before the Vietnamese National Team flew to Qatar to participate in the 2023 Asian Cup.
Hoang Bach shared his thoughts about the project: "Just keep pursuing it, and one day your dream will answer you, in one way or another."
I never dared to dream of becoming a football player, because I knew I didn't have any qualities related to this job, other than my burning passion for football. Not only do I love football, I love playing football.
I'm so passionate about football that my first memorable experience—taking a kick to the face and falling flat on my back on the field next to the Nam Dinh Cathedral when I was 3 or 4 years old watching my older brother play—is still something sacred and beautiful to me. But I dream of making music for football, of contributing my abilities to the culture of football."
Hoang Bach performs a song to cheer on the Vietnamese football team in Qatar.
Hoang Bach invited his "football teammates" to sing in support of Vietnamese football.
Hoang Bach described this as a "dream come true" as the song "This Afternoon on the Field" features the voices of his brothers and teammates such as singers Pham Anh Khoa, Hoang Ton, SOOBIN, Pham Dinh Thai Ngan, and Ho Khanh Long - who have often "stood shoulder to shoulder" with Hoang Bach on the football field.
"The song will be submitted to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) as the official anthem of the Vietnamese national team at the 2023 Asian Cup in Qatar. The song will be officially released at 8 PM on January 8, 2024, on the Hoang Bach - Bach20 Official channel, VFF Official, and other channels," Hoang Bach announced.
"Hopefully, this song, conveying the faith and happiness from the hearts of pure football lovers, will give us more strength to fight harder, overcome difficulties, and prove ourselves worthy representatives of a nation with a leading passion for football like Vietnam," said Hoang Bach.
The AFC recommends that national teams participating in the Asian Cup have their own anthems to cheer them on and represent their country's colors. Recently, there has been much discussion about which song would be worthy of being submitted by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to the AFC for broadcast before and during matches involving the national team.
Hoang Bach said he had achieved his dream.
In Vietnam, many songs, not specifically designed for cheering, are played in stadiums. This is mostly due to familiarity, and others because they haven't found a suitable song yet. "Chiều nay ra sân" (Going to the Stadium This Afternoon) is the first cheering song specifically for football. Written based on Hoang Bach's football experiences over more than 30 years as a fan and amateur player, the song has been heard in most stadiums across Vietnam.
Hoang Bach is remembered not only as a passionate supporter of Vietnamese football but also as someone who has made practical contributions to the sport with his talent. "The Dragon's Footsteps" is the first opening theme song for Vietnamese football, produced by Hoang Bach and his team in 2022.
Therefore, the male singer was approached by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), and "This Afternoon on the Field" will be played in stadiums in Qatar before the Vietnamese national football team's matches.
