
On the morning of August 19th, after a long summer break, primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City welcomed first-grade students back to school. According to observations by a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , at Phan Van Tri Primary School (District 1), many parents brought their young children to school early (Photo: Nam Anh).

Many parents also accompanied their children on their first day of school. "This morning, my child woke up very early, eagerly asking me to take her to school to register for her class. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced that in the 2024-2025 school year, the city will have approximately 1.7 million students, an increase of over 24,000 compared to the previous school year. Primary schools will have the largest number of students, over 626,000. Compared to the 2023-2024 school year, the number of primary school students decreased by about 6,100. Speaking with a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , Ms. Le Ngoc Moi, Principal of Dinh Cong Trang Primary School, said that the school currently has over 650 students, with 3 classes and 120 students in the first grade alone.

The principal of Dinh Cong Trang Primary School added that this morning, only the first-grade students came to school to receive their class assignments and get acquainted with their teachers and classmates. "Taking my child to school for the first time when she started first grade was quite nerve-wracking and worrying that she would have difficulty adapting to the new environment because she's a bit shy.
