Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank: Competing to promote innovation and creativity.

During the period 2020-2025, the Prime Minister and the Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam launched several important emulation movements to promote the banking sector's accelerated digital transformation, notably the "Digital Literacy Movement" and the Digital Transformation Strategy for the Banking Sector. Accordingly, digital transformation is not only a professional task but also a patriotic emulation movement linked to improving operational efficiency, service quality, and contributing to the national digital economy development goals.

In line with the overall spirit of the entire industry, Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB) has early identified digital transformation as a strategic task and the focus of emulation movements throughout the system, thereby creating a strong, synchronized, and sustainable impetus for innovation.

The widespread emulation movement – the foundation for innovation at MB.

A key feature of MB 's approach is that it views competition not only as a motivating force but also as a method to realize digital transformation goals at each job position and in each unit. The spirit of innovation and creativity is nurtured by practical requirements: improving operational efficiency, enhancing customer experience, and building a culture of "continuous innovation" throughout the entire system.

Over the years, MB has regularly organized emulation programs, innovation competitions, Hackathons, and digital product idea contests with widespread participation from its staff. Platforms such as "Creative Ideas - Connecting Customers," "Flexible Idea," "Smart Idea," "Connecting Idea," "Creative Journey - Aspiration for Growth," and the "Focusing on Customers - Elevating Experience" competition have become environments that encourage innovation linked to practical operations.

A key highlight is the BeeVoice platform – where MB employees can submit creative ideas daily. The leadership directly monitors, evaluates, provides feedback, and selects feasible ideas for research and implementation. Linking initiatives to performance evaluation and reward criteria has created a strong ripple effect, making innovation a regular mindset and practice throughout the entire system.

From that emulation movement, MB has developed many highly applicable ideas, processes, and products, creating a cultural foundation that helps the bank not only keep up with the digitalization trend but also proactively open up new models, improve operational quality, and enhance customer experience.

Creative competition - the driving force behind the aspirations of digital businesses.

Based on a spirit of innovation, MB has built and developed digital platforms to serve customers, most notably the BAAS (Banking-as-a-Service) model, providing MB's banking products and services on partner platforms. In 2024, MB developed 783 partners with 1,210 APIs; it is expected to reach 1,600 APIs in 2025, demonstrating its strategy of expanding digital banking services in an open, flexible, and deeply integrated manner into the digital ecosystem of the economy .

In addition, the two platforms, MBBank App for individual customers and BIZ MBBank for corporate customers, are continuously invested in and upgraded to optimize user experience. MB is one of the pioneering banks in implementing 100% eKYC, opening accounts with attractive numbers online, as well as the entire E2E online loan process from registration to disbursement and approval, all within the application.

MB's digital transformation journey has yielded outstanding results, with a remarkable increase in customer numbers, from over 2.7 million in 2020 to nearly 35 million in 2025. These efforts have been recognized through numerous prestigious domestic and international awards such as the Vietnam Digital Awards, The Asset Triple A Awards, and the Sao Khue Award. Beyond technology, MB places particular emphasis on building a digital culture and developing a digital workforce, considering these key elements of sustainable digital transformation.

Speaking at MB's 30th anniversary celebration, General Director Pham Nhu Anh affirmed that the bank will accelerate its digital transformation, aiming to become a digital enterprise, with the expectation that 50-70% of its revenue will come from digital channels in the future.

With a spirit of innovation and creativity as its foundation, MB continues to affirm its pioneering role in the digital transformation of the banking industry, contributing to building a more modern and sustainably developing Vietnamese banking sector.
