To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Thanh Hoa province (November 1, 1984 – November 1, 2024), on the morning of October 30, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Thanh Hoa province organized a seminar on Thanh Hoa Buddhism - 40 years of development and growth.

Attending the workshop were representatives from several provincial departments and agencies, venerable monks, abbots, nuns, and Buddhist followers, scholars, laypeople, and Buddhists.

Since its introduction to Vietnam, Buddhism has matured and developed through various historical periods, becoming the religion of the nation – a religion with a tradition of "protecting the nation and ensuring the people's well-being," accompanying the nation throughout history. In the present and future, Buddhism in Thanh Hoa has always been a companion to the nation in the construction, protection, and development of the homeland; at the same time, it has had a profound influence on social life, contributing to the formation of national cultural and ideological identity.

As a religion of compassion and kindness, guided by the motto "Buddhist teachings are inseparable from worldly enlightenment," Thanh Hoa Buddhism has joined hands with Party committees, government agencies, departments, and organizations at all levels to build a life of "good living and virtuous conduct." Thanh Hoa Buddhism has gradually affirmed its position in the hearts of the people, especially since the establishment of the Executive Committee of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Buddhist Association in 1984.
Venerable Thich Tam Minh, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Thanh Hoa province and Head of the Organizing Committee of the conference, presented the introductory report.
At the conference, the presentations focused on studying Buddhism in Thanh Hoa province from a new perspective and image, namely: Studying Buddhism in Thanh Hoa in the contemporary context and development, with 53 papers from scholars, researchers, and monks from research institutes, universities, and state management agencies on religion, covering 6 topics, including: The history of the formation and development of Buddhism in Thanh Hoa through different periods; Culture, festivals, and architectural art of temples in Thanh Hoa; Buddhism in Thanh Hoa and social welfare issues; Buddhism in ethnic minority areas of Thanh Hoa province; Theravada Buddhism in Thanh Hoa; New sources of information on Buddhism in Thanh Hoa...

The presentations focused on clarifying the formation and development of Buddhism in Thanh Hoa through different historical periods, especially the positive influences and spread of Buddhism in the cultural and social life of the ethnic communities in Thanh Hoa province.
Representatives from the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Quang Nam province presented their papers at the conference.
Following the presentations, delegates continued to delve deeper into and clarify several issues: How to enhance the effectiveness of Buddhism in Thanh Hoa in propagating the Dharma and spreading Buddhist culture in the locality; the work of preserving, restoring, and promoting the value of Buddhist cultural heritage in Thanh Hoa in the present and future; the training and development of monastic talents and the adaptation of monks and nuns in the current period; measures and solutions to improve the quality of social charity activities and aim for sustainable social welfare of the Buddhist Church and monasteries at all levels in Thanh Hoa province; measures and solutions to improve the effectiveness of Buddhist activities in mountainous districts...

The workshop is a valuable opportunity for the Buddhist Association of Thanh Hoa to receive feedback, identify shortcomings and limitations. Through this, they can build upon achievements and strengths, while simultaneously addressing and improving existing weaknesses, aiming towards "serving the Dharma, serving society, and serving the people."
