On the morning of November 18th, Typhoon Man-Yi continued to move northwest at a speed of 15-20 km per hour. It is expected that today, Typhoon Man-Yi will enter the South China Sea, becoming the ninth typhoon of 2024.
After entering the South China Sea and encountering cold air, Typhoon Man-Yi is expected to weaken in intensity but will still remain very strong. By 13:00 on November 18th, the center of Typhoon Man-Yi was approximately 640km from the Paracel Islands with wind speeds of level 11-12, gusting to level 14.
To proactively respond to the storm's developments, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep signed a dispatch to ministries, departments, and the Chairmen of the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Binh Thuan, requesting them to focus on responding to the situation.
The main tasks in the coming hours are to closely monitor the storm's development; manage vessels at sea; organize the counting of ships and boats; and inform owners of vessels and captains of ships and boats operating at sea about the storm's location, direction of movement, and development so that they can proactively take precautions, evacuate, or avoid moving into dangerous areas.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also requested that ministries, sectors, and localities prepare forces and resources for rescue and relief operations when needed. Mass media agencies from the central to local levels should strengthen measures to inform all levels of government and the public about the storm's developments so that they can proactively prevent and respond promptly and effectively.
