The 2026 Pho Hien Folk Culture Festival will be organized on a provincial scale, harmoniously combining ceremonial and festive elements. The highlight will be the opening art program themed "Pho Hien: A Legend Worthy of All Time - Returning to the Land of Historical Sites," featuring over 450 actors and artists, vividly recreating the prosperous era of the ancient Pho Hien trading port.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Van Nghiem, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Yen province, emphasized that Hung Yen is a land with a rich history, culture, and revolutionary tradition. Throughout its development, the province, along with the rest of the country, has achieved many important and comprehensive achievements in the economic and social fields, gradually affirming its new position in the process of national renewal and deep integration.
In particular, over the past period, the province's socio-economic development has continued to maintain stable growth and has made breakthroughs. The province's Gross Regional Product (GRDP) is projected to increase by 8.78% in 2025, placing it among the top 10 localities with the highest growth rates nationwide. In the first three months of 2026, the province's GRDP is expected to increase by 10.43% compared to the same period in 2025. Investment in the cultural and social sectors is prioritized; national defense and security are ensured; social welfare is emphasized; and the material and spiritual lives of the people are continuously improving.
Hung Yen currently preserves a rich cultural heritage system with 3,716 historical and cultural relics, including 6 special national relic clusters, 284 national relics, and over 10 national treasures. The province has 1,152 traditional festivals, of which 20 have been included in the national list of intangible cultural heritage.

Within that treasure trove of heritage, the Pho Hien complex holds a special place, serving as a representative highlight reflecting a brilliant period of development for one of the most bustling trading ports. Over the years, Hung Yen province has implemented numerous programs and projects and allocated resources to restore and preserve the relics belonging to the Pho Hien special national historical complex.
Currently, the province is developing an investment project to recreate the ancient Pho Hien trading port, with the goal of restoring the ancient urban space, reviving historical memories, and promoting the values that have created Pho Hien's special position in the cultural and economic flow of the nation.

Upon completion, the project is expected to become a cultural and historical destination of national and international significance, contributing to affirming the role of this land, once the most bustling trading port in Northern Vietnam, in regional and international trade during the 17th and 18th centuries.
"Reviving Pho Hien in a way that properly promotes the heritage value and harmoniously balances preservation and development is a crucial requirement in the new phase, where heritage becomes the cultural foundation and endogenous resource for sustainable development," the leader of the Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee emphasized.

The Pho Hien Folk Culture Festival 2026 will take place from April 25-27 with many rich activities such as: incense offering, palanquin procession, folk art performances, traditional games… contributing to preserving and spreading the unique cultural values of the Pho Hien region.
