
Earlier that day, President Tamas Sulyok officially appointed the ministers of the new government. The new cabinet comprises 16 ministries, with Anita Orban assuming the position of Foreign Minister, former Chief of General Staff Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi appointed as Defense Minister, and Istvan Kapitany officially appointed as Economy Minister.
Speaking before parliament, the new Prime Minister Magyar said the new government would focus on restoring public trust, improving governance, and rebuilding Hungary's international relations. He affirmed that the new government's goal is to build an efficient and humane Hungary.
Mr. Magyar also pledged to strengthen Hungary's relations with its allies, while continuing to defend national interests within the European Union (EU) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). He added that four ministries – the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Children, and the Ministry of Justice – would play a central role in the government and would have veto power in the cabinet.
Earlier, Mr. Magyar was sworn in as prime minister on May 9th after winning a vote in parliament. In the parliamentary election held on April 12th, the Tisza Party defeated the ruling Fidesz-KDNP coalition led by Viktor Orban, winning an absolute majority with 141 seats out of a total of 199 seats in Parliament.
