On the afternoon of December 15th, the Standing Committee of the Can Loc District Party Committee held a conference to summarize Party building work in 2023 and implement tasks for 2024. Thanks to the adaptability, proactiveness, and flexibility in leadership, direction, and management of the Standing Committee and the Party Committee, and the efforts of the entire political system and the whole population, the targets for 2023 in Can Loc were basically met and exceeded the set plan. Political security and social order were ensured; the work of building the Party and organizations within the political system was strengthened.

In the economic field, agricultural production achieved good results, with food production reaching 106,311 tons, achieving 103.4% of the plan; the average rice yield throughout the district reached 57.88 quintals/hectare. Livestock and poultry diseases were controlled, contributing to the promotion of livestock development by the people. Can Loc is also a leading district in the province in land consolidation and conversion. Concentrated rice production models continue to yield high and outstanding productivity, affirming the high efficiency of land consolidation, reducing production costs, and gaining the support of the people.
The total value of capital investment in the entire district is estimated at 2,965.4 billion VND; many projects and works in the area have been completed and put into use. Revenue collection in the district in 2023 is estimated at 240 billion VND, reaching 175.18% of the provincial plan and 160.0% of the district People's Council plan.
The land clearance work for the North-South Expressway has been decisively directed, and to date, the land clearance has been basically completed and handed over to the investor for implementation; it is one of the localities in the province that handed over the land earliest, meeting the set plan. Infrastructure for resettlement areas in the communes of Quang Loc, Son Loc, Kim Song Truong, Trung Loc, and the relocation of pumping stations and power lines have been completed, achieving 100% of the plan.
The new rural development program continues to receive focused guidance, and Vuong Loc commune has been recognized as a commune meeting the advanced new rural development standards. Upon review, the entire district has 21 out of 38 sub-criteria meeting the advanced new rural district criteria, achieving 55%.
Culture and education have achieved many outstanding results; social welfare and employment issues have seen significant improvements; and national defense and security are ensured.
Party building and the political system have undergone many innovations. Party inspection, supervision, and disciplinary enforcement, internal affairs, and the fight against corruption and waste have been tightened; mass mobilization work; and the activities of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other mass organizations have been strengthened.
In 2024, Can Loc district set the following goals: a total cultivated area of 20,732 hectares, a total grain production of over 102,779 tons; striving to have 2 communes recognized as achieving advanced new rural standards, and 1 commune achieving model new rural standards; achieving a budget revenue of over 179 billion VND; a total value of products from the trade and service sector exceeding 1,000 billion VND; and reducing the multidimensional poverty rate according to the new criteria by at least 0.5%.
The district also strives for 100% of grassroots Party organizations to be rated as "having completed their tasks," with at least 70% rated as "having completed their tasks well." The district Party committee aims to be rated at least "having completed its tasks well."

The Chairman of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission noted that in the coming period, the district needs to continue to comprehensively assess the achievements, clearly analyze the causes and limitations to find effective solutions. Focus on thoroughly reviewing and evaluating the rotation of cadres, thereby making appropriate selections and placements to maximize the abilities and strengths of cadres; motivate and encourage cadres to continuously learn and improve their capabilities and political acumen; strengthen inspection and supervision work, focusing on outstanding issues to definitively resolve obstacles and difficulties at the grassroots level.
Be flexible and decisive in mobilizing resources to complete the criteria for building advanced new rural districts; promote administrative reform; pay attention to preserving and promoting cultural values in the area, while also researching participation in tourism chains throughout the province; continue to effectively implement social welfare policies, taking care of the poor and those with meritorious services during Tet (Lunar New Year)...
Concluding the conference, District Party Secretary Nghiem Sy Dong requested that localities continue to focus on shifting the agricultural sector's structure; concentrate on building and consolidating to achieve the goal of becoming an advanced new rural district; tighten administrative discipline and order in the spirit of serving the people; and launch emulation movements to create momentum right from the beginning of the year.

For the immediate future, focus on directing the timely and appropriate production of the 2024 spring crop; strengthen social welfare work, and ensure security and safety before, during, and after Tet.
