Chau Thanh District has achieved the new rural standard.

(KGO) - The Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1119/QD-TTg, dated June 11, 2025, recognizing Chau Thanh district, Kien Giang province, as having met the standards for new rural areas in 2024.

Rural roads in Chau Thanh district have been upgraded and expanded.

The Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Kien Giang province the responsibility to announce and award commendations according to regulations; and directed the People's Committee of Chau Thanh district to continue maintaining and improving the quality of the criteria, focusing on economic and environmental criteria to ensure sustainability in building new rural areas.

To date, Kien Giang province has 9 out of 15 districts and cities recognized as new rural areas, completing the task of building new rural areas and achieving 100% of the plan; 116 out of 116 communes have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the standards of new rural areas; 40 out of 116 communes have been recognized as meeting the standards of advanced new rural areas, and 5 communes have been recognized as model new rural areas.
