Green Destinations

With an area of over 83 thousand hectares and a diverse and rich flora and fauna system, Cat Tien National Park is one of the impressive green destinations, attracting hundreds of thousands of domestic and international tourists each year.

Sharing about the development of green tourism in the park, Director of Cat Tien National Park Pham Xuan Thinh said that although it is a destination with experiences completely in the middle of a cool green forest, the concept of green tourism does not only talk about the natural characteristics of the destination, but also carries other sustainable values such as the responsibility to preserve the environment and natural assets. The number of tourists to Cat Tien National Park has always grown quite high in the past 3 years. Some tourists when coming to Cat Tien National Park are concerned about the impacts on the environment and natural space when welcoming tourists to visit the forest. However, compared to other large national parks in the world with an area equivalent to Cat Tien National Park but welcoming 10 times more visitors each year, even over 20 times more than Cat Tien National Park, welcoming tourists to visit the forest does not affect the natural environment of the forest.

In Dong Nai, with the advantage of owning about 350 thousand hectares of forest, along with achievements in new rural construction, as well as many famous scenic spots, Dong Nai's tourism products aim towards green and sustainable criteria.

Not only protecting the forest, when coming to Cat Tien National Park, visitors will be raised awareness about environmental protection, wildlife protection with lessons and stories conveyed by the guides at the park to visitors during their journey to explore the forest. With efforts to preserve and promote the value of the forest, in 2023, Bau Sau Area of Cat Tien National Park was recognized as one of the top 7 eco-tourism destinations in 2023. More specifically, in 2024, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) officially recognized Cat Tien National Park as the 72nd protected area in the world to achieve the IUCN Green List title. This is the first national park in Vietnam to achieve this title.

This recognition demonstrates the commitment of Cat Tien National Park in particular and Vietnam in general to always focus on nature conservation and biodiversity conservation in Vietnam.

Mr. Thinh emphasized: “Dong Nai is the leading province in the country in attracting investment in industrial production projects. Therefore, preserving the environment and green natural space will be the basis for Dong Nai to balance emissions in industrial zones through purchasing carbon credits from Cat Tien National Park”.

Bu Gia Map National Park is located in Bu Gia Map commune with an area of nearly 26 thousand hectares. According to information from Bu Gia Map National Park, in addition to the wild and majestic natural landscape, Bu Gia Map National Park also has a diverse flora and fauna system with more than 1,500 species of flora and fauna. Among them are some rare species such as: agarwood, rosewood, black star, wild tea, tiger-skin orchids, mushrooms and wild orchids; five-color langur, yellow-cheeked gibbon, yellow-eared oriole... Along with the primeval forest area, the buffer zone of Bu Gia Map National Park is home to the indigenous ethnic communities of Stieng and M'nong with traditional cultural values and traditional festivals bearing strong indigenous imprints.

In addition, Dong Nai also has famous natural destinations such as: Da Ton Lake, Dong Nai Nature and Culture Reserve, Gia Canh Forest, Long Thanh Mangrove Forest... which are eco-tourism destinations combined with resources to attract tourists.

Opportunities for green, sustainable tourism

Besides wild natural destinations, Dong Nai also has famous tourist areas and eco-tourism spots such as: Suoi Mo (Tan Phu commune), Bo Cap Vang (Dai Phuoc commune), Son Tien (Long Hung ward), My Le (Binh Tan commune)... These are destinations invested by businesses in cool green spaces.

Director of Bo Cap Vang Ecotourism Area Nguyen Thanh Sang said that the tourist area has achieved the titles: Most favorite eco-destination in 2024 at the event The Best of Vietnam organized by Intellectual Property and Creativity Magazine in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Science and Entrepreneurs in Hanoi.

In addition, in 2023, the Golden Scorpion Ecotourism Area was recognized by Dong Nai Provincial Police as a safe tourist destination in terms of security and order, ensuring peace of mind for all visitors when coming here to attend events. These are the achievements that the Golden Scorpion Ecotourism Area deserves to achieve after a period of pursuing sustainable ecotourism.

As one of the famous ecological destinations of Binh Phuoc province (old), My Le ecological tourist area is on the list of green destinations of Dong Nai province.

Director of My Le Joint Stock Company (My Le Eco-tourism Area) Tran Hong Hai shared that the strength of the tourist area is the cool green natural space with an area of nearly 50 hectares. Formed in the 2000s, My Le Eco-tourism Area attracts tourists from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring areas. Coming to My Le Eco-tourism Area, visitors will feel relaxed and in contact with nature when getting lost on tree-lined roads, passing through green cashew and oolong tea gardens. Along with culinary services and comfortable accommodation in the middle of nature, My Le Eco-tourism Area deserves to be one of the green destinations located in the "capital" of Vietnam's cashew.

According to some destinations in the province, currently, some localities of the province still face many difficulties in developing tourism products related to land issues.

Chairman of Binh Phuoc Tourism Association Pham Huong Son shared that, besides the advantages and bright spots of eco-tourism and green tourism that Dong Nai is aiming for, many tourist destinations currently still have "uncertainties" regarding legal issues in the process of building destinations, especially tourism models related to agricultural land, forest land... Vietnam is undergoing a strong transformation with breakthrough directives from the Politburo, including Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025 of the Politburo on private economic development.

According to Mr. Pham Huong Son, this is a great opportunity for entrepreneurs and businesses to boldly express their thoughts and difficulties in their field of operation. Therefore, businesses need to study the detailed legal content for green tourism. It is time to create a legal corridor so that businesses operating in the field of green tourism can confidently invest, operate effectively, and comply with the law. Mr. Son hopes that this will be the beginning for Dong Nai tourism to enter a new era with green and sustainable tourism products.
