In early December, Mr. Luong Van Linh's family in Quoi Thanh hamlet, Phuoc An commune, Dong Nai province was busy harvesting white-leg shrimp. In his 4-hectare pond, this time, Mr. Linh sold 5 tons of shrimp, at a price of up to 190,000 VND/kg for 30 shrimp, about 40,000 VND/kg higher than 3 months ago.

Phuoc An shrimp has long affirmed its position in the market thanks to its firm meat quality, sweetness and outstanding freshness.
Mr. Nguyen The Long, a trader from Thanh Hoa province, said he has been associated with the Phuoc An shrimp area for several years now. Every harvest season, he comes to buy and then transports to Hanoi , Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa and some neighboring provinces to supply to restaurants, seafood stores and wholesale markets.

“Phuoc An commune has 400 hectares of intensive and extensive shrimp farming. Currently, shrimp prices are high, shrimp farmers are very excited. The commune's Farmers' Association also encourages and motivates people to continue renovating ponds, applying science and technology to restore the herd,” said Mr. Tran Huynh Minh Dung, Vice Chairman of the Phuoc An Commune Farmers' Association.
White leg shrimp farming has become the main economic development direction of Phuoc An commune for many years. People take advantage of the land near the sea, favorable water resources, and increasingly improved farming techniques to create large output and stable quality.
