DTO - The Prime Minister has just signed Decisions 855/QD-TTg and 856/QD-TTg recognizing Lap Vo and Lai Vung districts in Dong Thap province as having met the standards for new rural areas in 2023.
In recent times, Lap Vo district has focused on successfully implementing the construction of rural roads and bridges.
Accordingly, the Prime Minister assigned the People's Committee of Dong Thap province the responsibility to announce and reward according to regulations; and directed the People's Committees of Lap Vo and Lai Vung districts to continue maintaining and improving the quality of the criteria, focusing on production and environmental criteria to ensure sustainability in building new rural areas.
Over the past period, Lap Vo district has opened 23 vocational training classes for rural laborers, including 15 classes with 525 trainees and 8 classes with 151 trainees; the rate of trained laborers reached 76%, of which 57% received vocational training; 209 out of 175 laborers went to work abroad on fixed-term contracts, achieving 119.42% of the assigned target.
In 2023, Lap Vo district implemented many solutions to support the development of OCOP products, currently having 41 OCOP products, including: 4 products with 4 stars and 37 products with 3 stars; the rate of people participating in health insurance reached 95.27/95% of the target, according to the statistical yearbook it reached 87/86%; average per capita income reached 63.763 million VND/person/year...
In Lai Vung district, the locality has recently intensified efforts to transform the rural landscape and improve the material and spiritual well-being of its people. Currently, all 11 communes in the district have been recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting the standards for New Rural Development, with four communes (Tan Duong, Tan Thanh, Vinh Thoi, and Tan Phuoc) achieving advanced New Rural Development standards; the remaining communes have met 8 to 16 advanced New Rural Development criteria.
The district's departments and levels are focusing on effectively exploiting the local agricultural strengths. This includes prioritizing the implementation of the digital transformation project for the agricultural sector, expanding the area applying traceability technology and planting area codes. As a result, the crop structure is gradually shifting towards high-value crops; agricultural extension models are proving effective. The district is also paying attention to implementing policies and programs to support people in accessing knowledge, production techniques, and market information... in order to improve the efficiency of agricultural production...
