Ronaldo's Portugal is in Group K with Colombia, Uzbekistan, and an as-yet-unidentified opponent at the 2026 World Cup. Even now, the atmosphere is tense, with legend Higuita expressing his excitement for the clash between his national team and Ronaldo in the United States.
At a Colombian national team event on March 3rd, Higuita didn't hesitate to mention Ronaldo when asked about how to neutralize the superstar currently playing for Al Nassr. Instead of polite remarks, Higuita stated succinctly: "We will take care of him."
This statement quickly spread on social media, seen as a declaration of war ahead of the crucial Group K match between Portugal and Colombia. The clash is scheduled to take place on June 27th at Hard Rock Stadium (Miami, USA).
Higuita, 59, is a Colombian football legend, famous for his iconic "scorpion" save in a friendly match against England at Wembley in 1995.

The upcoming match between Portugal and Colombia will also be a reunion between Ronaldo and James Rodriguez, former teammates at Real Madrid. Having once played together seamlessly at the Bernabeu, the two will now be on opposing sides.
For Ronaldo, the 2026 World Cup could be his last major tournament at the national team level. The 41-year-old striker still maintains impressive fitness and always craves lifting the World Cup trophy before retiring.
