The iPhone 11 series was officially sold in Vietnam from November 1, 2019, with the cheapest price being for the standard 64GB iPhone 11 version at 21.99 million VND. After nearly 5 years on the shelves, this device is still selling well and has undergone several price reductions. Currently, some retailers list the device at 9.69 million VND, placing it in the mid-range segment of the market.
Apple stopped selling the iPhone 11 in many markets after introducing the iPhone 14 series in September 2022. Even the Apple Online Store in Vietnam no longer stocks this product. However, a few markets, including Vietnam, still sell new units through Apple Authorized Dealers (AARs). These are not leftover stock; instead, Apple continues to manufacture them. A dealer in Vietnam confirms that there are currently no signs of supply constraints, but only white and black colors are available.
The iPhone 11 still holds appeal in Vietnam.
According to a representative fromFPT Shop, the iPhone 11 contributes significantly to the total iPhone sales from the store, demonstrating that the iPhone released five years ago still retains considerable appeal. "The iPhone 11 remains part of the company's product line in the low-price segment, so the system is selling it at all stores. Supply remains fully ensured throughout the system," Mr. Nguyen The Kha, Commercial Director of FPT Shop, shared with Thanh Nien newspaper.
The AAR leader also noted that an older generation premium product (like the iPhone 11) from Apple, when sold at a lower price, would be far more attractive than a new device positioned as "cheap." The reason given is that iPhone users in Asia, especially Vietnam, have always preferred Apple's high-end products.
"High-end phones have a high level of product refinement and give users a sense of an elevated experience. Even new, budget-positioned products cannot address these two points," Mr. Kha commented.
Sharing the same view, Ms. Phung Phuong, a media representative for the Di Dong Viet system, believes that the iPhone 11 remains a preferred choice for users due to its more stable experience compared to used products in the same segment. "Currently, this is also a budget-friendly iPhone model that effectively meets almost all the functional needs on the iOS operating system," Ms. Phuong added.
The iPhone 11 has consistently been among the best-selling smartphones in Vietnam for a long time since its official launch. In 2022 alone, statistics from AAR and other market research firms confirmed that this model had the best sales and revenue at retail chains nationwide.
However, users should also consider the implications of choosing a product that is quite old at this point. Typically, Apple provides software updates for iPhones for five consecutive years from launch, meaning the iPhone 11 has reached the limit of its lifecycle, and iOS 18 (expected to be introduced at WWDC 2024 in June) may be the last major operating system update for this device.
With a lifespan of up to 5 years, the iPhone 11 is no longer as powerful in terms of specifications and only meets the needs of general users. iPhone 11s running the latest operating system version may not be as smooth as expected, and there is a risk of experiencing rapid battery drain and unusual overheating during use, especially when frequently handling demanding tasks such as playing games or watching videos for extended periods.
