On August 30th, Apple announced it would hold a “Wonderlust” event at the Steve Jobs Theater in its Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California, USA. The event will take place at 10:00 AM local time on September 12th (0:00 AM on September 13th in Vietnam).
According to Macrumors, even though the event was pre-recorded, Apple still invited the press to its headquarters to watch the presentation live and have time to get hands-on with the new devices after the introduction.
The September event always centers around the iPhone. This year is no exception. Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone 15 series, including the 6.1-inch iPhone 15, the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max. All will feature Dynamic Island, a new 5G chip from Qualcomm, and most notably, a USB-C port instead of the Lightning port.
The iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max offer additional premium features compared to the standard versions. Besides thinner bezels and more rounded corners, the iPhone 15 Pro also ditches the stainless steel frame in favor of a titanium frame.
The A17 chip – Apple's first 3nm chip – may appear in the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Rumors suggest that these two devices will use an Action button instead of the traditional Mute button. This Action button may be customizable, similar to the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. While both Pro models will have upgraded cameras, the iPhone 15 Pro Max is the only one to use a periscope zoom lens, allowing for 5x or 6x optical zoom.
With such new features, plus the cost of the 3nm chip, the starting price of the iPhone 15 will be more expensive than the iPhone 14. According to rumors, the iPhone 15 Pro could sell for $1,099, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max could start at $1,199. The price of the standard iPhone 15 is expected to remain unchanged.
Besides the iPhone 15, we are also looking forward to the Apple Watch Series 9 and a new version of the Apple Watch Ultra.
Apple will stream the event live on its website, YouTube, and the Apple TV app.
