According to market research by Counterpoint Research , Apple just had a successful business quarter with a number of products appearing in the list of the top 10 best-selling smartphones globally.
This is the third consecutive quarter that the iPhone 16 has topped the list, accounting for 4% of global smartphone sales in Q3 2025. The next three positions are held by the iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, and iPhone 16e, respectively.
The other Apple product appearing on this list is the iPhone 17 Pro Max (ranked 10th).
Positions 5 through 9 are all occupied by Samsung's mid-range phone models. Among them, the Galaxy A16 5G (ranked 5th) was the best-selling Android smartphone in Q3 2025.
Specifically, according to Counterpoint Research 's classification, only the iPhone 16e falls outside the premium segment, along with five mid-range Samsung smartphones. Thus, iPhones dominate the premium segment in the list of the top 10 best-selling smartphones in Q3 2025.

According to Counterpoint , key contributing factors to Apple's success in the past quarter were strong sales growth in the Indian market and a sustained recovery in Japan.
As a result, the iPhone 16 avoided the cyclical sales decline that often follows the release of the iPhone 17. However, iPhone 16 Pro sales dropped sharply in major contributing markets such as the US, UK, and China, where users opted for the iPhone 17 more often than the previous generation.
Additionally, iPhone sales also benefited from a group of customers who had purchased during the Covid-19 period, seeking significant upgrades in camera and performance.
In terms of Android smartphones, the Q3 results can also be seen as a victory for Samsung, as they occupied all five remaining positions in the top 10. Counterpoint assesses that the Galaxy A series was effective in targeting different user segments.
In the future, mid-range product lines could increase their competitiveness by integrating more AI features, providing higher value for consumers while offering more affordable prices compared to high-end products.
