The iPhone 17 Air will have many new features.

A report from The Information suggests that Apple will release an ultra-thin iPhone model called the iPhone 17 Air in 2025 to replace the iPhone 17 Plus, featuring a 6.6-inch screen upgraded to ProMotion technology and a 120Hz refresh rate (twice that of the iPhone 16 Plus), providing a better gaming and movie-watching experience.

According to leaked information, the iPhone 17 generation, launching in September 2025, will have many major changes. This is expected to be the product line that Apple is placing its faith in, with its ultra-thin design.

- ProMotion Display

Sources suggest that the iPhone 17 Air may feature a TDDI OLED display to deliver the thinnest design ever.

Reportedly, the TDDI (Touch and Display Driver Integration) OLED screen was recently launched by the Taiwanese company Novatek. TDDI technology combines touch sensors and drivers into a single layer, creating an ultra-thin panel. Thanks to this solution, smartphones are reduced in thickness by several millimeters.

In addition, display analyst Ross Young said that all four iPhone 17 models will be equipped with ProMotion 120Hz refresh rate.

- Ultra-slim design:

According to Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17 Air is about 2mm thinner than the 8.25mm of the iPhone 16 Pro. This will be the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever announced.

- A19 chip

The iPhone 17 Air will likely use the A19 chip. This is the first chip manufactured using a 2nm process, making it more powerful and efficient than any other chip on the market. Equipping the device with this chip will improve single-core and multi-core performance as well as energy efficiency.

- Self-developed Wi-Fi chip

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes the iPhone 17 series will use Apple's own Wi-Fi chip to save the company money compared to using a third-party solution. Additionally, Apple's self-developed modem will allow them to create thinner phones.

With its ultra-thin design, the iPhone 17 Air will likely only use a single wide-angle lens instead of two or three like the other versions. Furthermore, analysts suggest that reducing the thickness could lead to shorter battery life unless Apple finds a way to free up space for components.

- The most expensive iPhone ever:

The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be very expensive, positioned similarly to the Ultra line on the Apple Watch. The iPhone 17 is predicted to have a starting price of $799, the 17 Pro at $1,099, the 17 Pro Max at $1,199, while the most expensive 17 Air will cost up to $1,299.

- Home-developed 5G modem

The iPhone 17 Air will be one of three devices to use Apple's custom 5G modem in 2025, alongside the iPhone SE and a budget iPad model. Apple is known for its focus on tightly integrating components to optimize space within the iPhone while maintaining battery, camera, and display quality.
