Along with the introduction of the iPhone 16e, Apple also announced that two iPhone models, the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 Plus, have been discontinued. Additionally, the iPhone 14 has been removed from Apple's website. However, Apple stated that the product has not been completely discontinued, as there will still be units available for retail partners.

This is a notable move by Apple, as the iPhone 16e starts at $599 – higher than the starting price of the iPhone SE at $429. At the same time, the iPhone 16e is also seen as a replacement for the iPhone 14, and those who prefer a larger iPhone will now have to spend more on the iPhone 15 Plus or a more expensive phone.
On the positive side, replacing the three models with the 16e means the iPhone lineup will be more streamlined and simpler than before. However, those looking for a truly budget-friendly option or an iPhone with a Home button will have to buy refurbished units.
This means that the Home button on the iPhone has completely disappeared, 18 years after the first iPhone was released.
