
According to the Times of Israel, Iran launched approximately 10 ballistic missiles into northern Israel in a series of consecutive attacks. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that all of the missiles were either intercepted or landed in empty space, thus causing no direct impact.
On Tehran's side, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it had used ballistic missiles to attack the Ramat David air base in northern Israel. Iran also warned it would retaliate if Israel expanded its military campaign against Hezbollah in Lebanon, especially in southern Lebanon and the capital Beirut.
Amid escalating tensions, Israel closed schools nationwide and urged residents to stay near bomb shelters. Iraq closed its airspace for 72 hours, while Syria suspended air traffic for 12 hours to ensure security.
US President Donald Trump has called on Iran to return to the negotiating table to reach an agreement to end the conflict. According to Fox News, President Trump stated that the missile attacks "do not help the negotiation process," and added that he would speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to advise Israel against retaliating against Iran.
In a statement issued early on June 8 (local time), the US Embassy in Jerusalem requested all US government employees and their family members to be prepared to seek shelter when a red alert is issued. The US Embassy in Jerusalem and its branch office in Tel Aviv also announced a temporary closure on June 8 due to the escalating security situation.
