Man City could sell Grealish for just one-fifth of the price they paid to sign him. |
Last summer, Everton loaned Grealish from Man City for the entire season, with an optional buy-out clause worth £50 million, half the amount the Etihad Stadium club paid to bring him from Aston Villa in 2021. However, according to the latest financial analysis, "The Toffees" are unlikely to have to spend such a large sum if they want to keep the 30-year-old midfielder.
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson believes that the scenario of Everton activating the £50 million clause is highly unlikely. Speaking to Football Insider , he suggested that the actual fee for Grealish to leave Etihad could be around £20 million.
British media reports suggest that if Manchester City can sell Grealish for approximately £20 million next summer, they would be willing to accept the offer. The Etihad Stadium club would be willing to take a loss to reduce their wage bill, not to mention Grealish's contract is about to expire.
Grealish's contract with Man City runs until June 2027, so selling him early at a loss is considered a reasonable option to avoid the risk of losing him for free. In his four seasons with Man City, he played 157 games, scored 17 goals, and played a major role in their historic treble win in the 2022/23 season.
This season, Grealish has played 18 games for Everton in all competitions, scoring 2 goals and providing 4 assists. He is increasingly showing that he can find stability again at Goodison Park at a surprisingly low price.
Currently, the chances of Grealish returning to Man City are very low, while a move to a club other than Everton is also not feasible.
